Purdue at Rutgers: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

BERG?! Cmon man. You’re a known combine hater but that’s even outrageous for you to say. Myles is in a slump and you’ve seen what he can do. You don’t just sit the kid cuz he isn’t scoring. He’s making a big impact on defense and you know it. But cmon man.
Why are you ranting about his defense? Last night he was beaten more than once because he was out of position. As stated, I hope he becomes a basketball savant, but man he's shown so very little this season and once the yips hit the putter, it's a long, hard way back.

The first three things when he got the ball was miss three pointers. Maybe he needs to work on layups first.

Because he’s been great at it and been praised left and right by a lot of Purdue beat reporters and fans.

What specific plays are you referencing that he got beat?

I think Colvin's moving down the playing chart. He can't shoot, he plays weak defense, and he doesn't help anyone. Harris, Cox, Burgess, Berg and Heide should all play before him.
Lmao Berg? I agree Colvin has been off this season but not all the time. He had 20 points against Ole Miss and was one of the key reasons why we won that game. Has Berg done anything remotely close to that? Myles also had 7 points in the 14 minutes he played against NW including going 2-4 from 3. Once again I agree he’s in a bit of a slump but Berg? Just no.

Berg is great at mop up time. Has not shown anything else. Always the bench guy that could do better. Last year it was Colvin, he’s gonna be all world did you see his high school videos?

One in particular where he was attempting to guard someone on the high post and the Rutger player drove by him for a clean and easy layup. I know you love him, I know you think he's going to be one of the best ever in black and gold, but I don't see anything in his demeanor that allows me to think he's even close to playing any part of the game well.

We'll just have to agree to disagree until when he finally earns his keep.

And again, I can only hope that he proves me wrong but right now Cox, Burgess, Heide, and Harris are better and more productive. Colvin is shooting 41% overall, 31% from 3, and 61% from the free throw line. He has more turnovers than assists. The only positive stat is that he's averaging one steal per game, and he's gotten some boards that's helped.

Sorry, but I just don't share your enthusiasm for the young man, and he's had a lot of chances to prove us wrong. I'd take Cox or Harris in the lineup all day over him.

Colvin will be fine. You, on the other hand, have serious issues.
Do you feel better about yourself now? Got your big tough guy dig in again? What a weel wittle tuff man you are!

Colvin will be fine as a human being. His playing time will not be fine as he is a severly limited player, which is extremely shocking with how insanely athletic he is, and how he had a clear weakness as a freshman offensively and hasnt made any strides with it.

The fact you only have one example shows how much you don’t like him. And then to suggest berg and Waddell get mins over him just shows you have no idea what you’re talking about.

You have hated him from day 1. He could average 50 and you wouldn’t like him cuz he doesn’t shoot 100% from the field.

I have no idea why you hate him so much. Not sure if he dunked on your kid in HS, took playing mins from him, stole his girl or just took his lunch money, but at least you’re consistent in your hate but it’s a tad ridiculous.

I don’t think he could be the best to ever do it, but I do see potential there. However, what you and others don’t seem to get is that he’s the 4th-5th option when he’s on the floor and no plays are run for him. Paint doesnt draw plays up for them to get the ball to score. It seems he is also told not to drive or look to be aggressive, as he has been quite timid to do those things. Him and Heide just look to pass to the big 3. His shot is off right now—in a slump, but he was off to quite the start to begin the year.

All good though.

You can take the word hate and shove it up your anal canal. Never suggested Waddell should play over him, another of your falsehoods. I almost think you're his dad the way you defend his inability to play at this level. Berg plays a different position, so he isn't tanking minutes from Myles. And there's a reason he's the fourth or fifth option...watch Smith or Loyer when Myles is on the floor...they don't even attempt to get him the ball because THEY KNOW he's probably going to be a wasted option.

That one example I gave you is just one of many he's screwed up and you know it. If you're his dad I can see your support for the kid. If not, then you aren't seeing the same game as I am. And if you are his dad, then you have to know he's not producing nearly enough.

As one who coached many years, I do understand players who do and do not get it and I'm sure there's some raw talent with Myles, but that's the problem...he's raw because he hasn't come close to adapting to a game that faster, stronger, bigger, and a lot better this his HS career. He has no consistency in his game. PERIOD!

And as I've posted many times for you, I wish the kid no ill will and would be thrilled...absolutely thrilled if one day he does get it and proves you right and me wrong. I'd take 12 from him every game and congratulate CMP for sticking with him. My guess if he doesn't improve drastically this year, he won't' be at Mackey next year or he'll be sitting toward the end of the bench. CMP isn't going to keep giving him chances that Myles keeps screwing up.

Again, take that hate bull and shove it sideways, barbed end first because it bears no truth whatsoever.

Oh, about that drawing up plays for him, plays are drawn up for Furst, Cox, and Harris, and even Heide. Why not Myles?

Yeahhhhh I’m 2 time Super Bowl winner, Roosevelt Colvin and I’m posting here 🤦‍♂️

You have disliked him ever since he started at Purdue. Why is that exactly?

Plays are not drawn up for Heide or cox. Furst had the ball in his hands more this time because TKR was out in foul trouble and since we have no other big who can score, however Furst was the third option after Braden and fletch. No plays were drawn up directly for Furst. He was the beneficiary of Braden driving and kicking to him or he just happened to be the low post guy in position for that play after some action had occurred.

You saying “probably not but who knows” kinda indicates you’re saying Waddell should play but that’s semantics and I’ll give you that.

And you saying you’re a coach…but wasn’t that for baseball? So, I don’t really think I can trust what you’re saying since that’s a completely different sport. And you’ve said stuff on here that indicates you don’t know as much as you think you do.

And you say you’re watching the game but you just make things up. It’s a bit odd, but just admit you don’t like him.

I’ll stop arguing with you because you’re going to continue to make up things about him and for some reason, don’t like him for whatever that may be. Once you understand his role, as well as the roles for Heide, Harris and cox is different than the big 3, then it’ll all make sense. But until then, you will continue to misread and misdiagnose what you “see” on the court.
