Purdue at Indiana: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

There were some meaningful wins under Archie. For whatever reason he couldn't beat Purdue or Michigan. Woodson can't beat Iowa, Northwestern or Nebraska🤷 but under Archie best #18 Notre Dame in Indy. That Archie team was not good. I mean I guess it wasn't exactly "meaningful" but it was memorable at the very least. His 2nd year destroyed #24 Marquette(that Marquette team ended up getting blasted in the 1st round by Ja Morants Murray St team). Beat Michigan State twice when they were ranked #6 in each game. Beat a ranked Wisconsin in a 2OT thriller. Now year #3.... That technically would have been an NCAA tourney year but COVID happened. So beating #17 Florida State was indeed meaningful. Beating UConn and ND on neutral courts was meaningful. Beating #11 Ohio St, #11 Michigan State, #21 Iowa, #9 Penn State and Nebraska in the 1st round of the B1G tourney(which happened to be the very last game in all of college basketball that season). Year 4... Beat #4 and #8 Iowa which were just memorable.
You nailed it in the difference between memorable and meaningful. No conference championships, no NCAAT runs. Nothing meaningful unless you count games helping to qualify for the NCAAT as meaningful, but that’s a pretty sad bar for IU.

Well winning big games that put you in the NCAA are meaningful for all teams, no matter the seed line.

I don't disagree, but again, it speaks to the state of the IU program over the last decade that simply qualifying for the NCAAT is nowhere close to being a given.

Davis, Sampson, Crean, Archie, Woodson... So it'll be 6th. It happens.
You forgot the interim.

Does it happen? Where else does it happen for a program that's supposed to be among the best in the country? Even UCLA has had a better track record than that.

Do you really think drunk guys are going to try to read all that?
Those interested will and those not won't. To your point...yes,many are only interested in short, quick comments.
