Illinois -5.5 and Ohio State -1.5. There is an excellent chance we are back in first place by Sunday evening!
Losing at home vs Wisky could really spiral their season down, with tough to win road games vs Sparty and IU immediately following.I know Mackey is a big advantage but that's a big number. Wisconsin's offense is scary.
Pretty much exactly what Torvik has (76-71), 69% probability of a win for you guys.I know Mackey is a big advantage but that's a big number. Wisconsin's offense is scary.
Matchups will be very interesting. One thing I forget about playing Wisconsin - is they will play aggressive and force the refs to call everything. Curious what refs we get.
Don't want Braden picking up any cheap fouls early, so maybe put him on Klesmit to start off to protect him? Tonje is one of those crafty 25 y/o sixth years and seeks contact on drives.Matchups will be very interesting.
I’m thinking CJ on tonje and Braden on Blackwell?
TKR and Furst need to control the paint
I know klesmitt hasn’t shot it well, but I expect him to figure it out for one game tomorrow.
Their bench is decent but there is a drop off. Although, McGee is shooting it at such a high % from 3, he needs to be studied. Shot 27% from 3 and now is shooting double that. Crazy.
I expect to be high scoring.

Cox will pressure whoever brings the ball up, so assuming he gets Blackwell.
I think coming off of a loss and it being a home game against ranked team will put the odds in Purdue’s favor. Wisconsin should get Purdue’s best shot in a rocking environment.
IF Purdue plays like they did against Michigan for stretches Wisky is good enough to win. Need the role guys to step up.
FWIW, I whiffed on this badly. For whatever reason, it didn’t appear to me that PU made turning over the Badgers much of a priority, even with a key ballhandler expelled. Is that a fair assessment? While UW is usually fairly good at protecting the ball, I expect you guys to have some success in that area. Other teams that concentrate on turning you over - namely, Marquette, UCLA, and Maryland - all were able to turn UW over. Those were all Ls for us (also all on the road, as is tomorrow).
To me, I’ve been saying all over, it seemed right from the jump that the team’s energy was different…playing not to lose. They seemed tight/timid. Mackey even seemed that way.FWIW, I whiffed on this badly. For whatever reason, it didn’t appear to me that PU made turning over the Badgers much of a priority, even with a key ballhandler expelled. Should we meet again in the BTT, I’d expect this to be a main talking point by your coaching staff.

Some other observations….
Not much scouting report on Janicki, but he stepped up and played his role very well. Hit open shots in big situations. And then tonje took over.
Biggest thing was Purdue couldn’t get a stop in the second half. Believe they only stopped Wisconsin on 5 outta 34 possessions.
Not saying this lost the game, but Purdue was gaining momentum, but the two “tripping” calls on Caleb when Klesmit baited the refs by falling down, really stopped any comeback Purdue could have had. But that’s not the main reason Purdue lost. Wisconsin hit shots when needed and got stops. They were the better team Saturday, unlike Michigan on Tuesday. Hats off to Wisconsin with a huge win at Mackey.
MSU doesn't take many 3's. Will be interesting to see if we can keep them out of the paint.Wisconsin for the game was 20/22 on two-pt FG attempts....that's all you really need to know.
And they were also getting pretty darn good looks from beyond the arc. Wisconsin scores 94 points with only two offensive rebounds, as Purdue went from 29th in defensive efficiency to 40th in KenPom.
Pretty stagnant on offense for Purdue as well and got nothing really from turnovers like some recent games.
Boilers definitely looked fatigued - maybe more mentally.....but that's also credit to Wisconsin - well played game from the Badgers, no doubt.
I think Michigan State is actually a better match-up for Purdue this year than Wisconsin, but that is going to be another tough challenge, and Michigan State can play some defense. We'll get a better sense of where things truly are after the game in East Lansing on Tuesday.

I saw that Wisconsin shot almost 72% in the second half and you’re correct in that we couldn’t get a stop, otherwise with our offensive numbers we definitely would have won most games. We shot nearly 52% on the game and 46% from 3 and put up 84 points. We had only 4 turnovers and won the rebounding battle by 2.Wisconsin for the game was 20/22 on two-pt FG attempts....that's all you really need to know.

We barely have a scouting report either - he’s the 5th guard. He was a redshirt PWO last year and has gotten into most games to eat some minutes prior to an upcoming media timeout. He generally has not been ready for prime time due to trying to do too much on both ends. We had a player like this about 10 years ago you may or may not remember - Zak Showalter, also a walk on, who earned PT just being active and athletic..Not much scouting report on Janicki, but he stepped up and played his role very well. Wonder if his height played any part as he is 5 inches (listed) more than McGee? Not sure how , but I also feel not knowing how to play him, played a bit of the part in the Wisconsin win.We barely have a scouting report either - he’s the 5th guard. Showalter is a bad comp. Janicki reminds me more of a young John Diebler. Different team I realize, but this is closer to the mark. I wonder if Janicki takes the same leap as Deibler from frosh to soph?We barely have a scouting report either - he’s the 5th guard. similar to the 1sr half if game at MichThe over 2 minute drought to end the first half was a killer. Had a chance to extend the lead and instead allow Wisconsin to go into the locker room only down 1.
