Didn’t see that coming, usually I’m real close predicting lines, told my friend Purdue would be 2-3 point favorites, going to be a tough one, Vegas is daring you to bet Purdue, don’t like that at all.

I could see that. PSU can play out of their minds and beat Purdue. My Dad has watched them and says at times they play very well.

I can also see CMP drilling into those guys to get ready, road game hostile environment. Our big 3 could respond and have a nice win. Hope the other guys come to play also.

Wonder which way it will go?

Penn State is far from a hostile environment. If anything, the players need to get ready for a dead environment. We have to bring our own energy because the Penn State crowd isn’t going to.

With a ranked Purdue coming in they might get 8,000 or so, maybe?? Certainly can make some noise. But yes you are correct they do often have half empty areanas. Purdue will have to play well to win on the road, as ALWAYS is the case no matter where you go.

Yeah, which always makes playing there really tough, it's just such a weird environment to play in.

Some B10 teams don't have fan base others do

Surprised me, but watched a UCLA home game the other night and maybe they had 6000??? With their track record I thought they would have a full house.

Last three home games were 7,200; 6,500; 6,600....I would expect a little more this evening, although it's an early tip - 6:30 pm (Eastern time). I would not touch this game - could really go either way @ The Tomb.......of course, I am not Mr. Vegas either......

Big reason that Shrews didn’t want to stay there …well that and PSU not committing to NIL

I can see maybe an even line, just wasn’t expecting to see Purdue at a plus 2, usually I’m close in predicting lines, figured Purdue would be the slight favorite.

Outside of Clemson - they really haven't played anyone that is meaningful. Ace is going to get buckets but forcing him into tough shots will be key.

Don't sleep on their 7ft guy - he is good. They will work on size mismatches when TKR is guarding him - don't be surprised on various doubles we throw to disrupt it. This might be a game where Furst/Berg/Burgess get some run to add a size comp.

My keys:
1. Big 3 - play level headed and control the emotions
2. Big 2 (Colvin/Heide) - remember you are in the starting lineup because you rebound and have been aggressive, keep it up.
3. Bench - we will need production off the bench....someone has to step up and get us more than 2 points like we saw against Ole Miss.

Defensively close on Kenpom - we have the better offense. Smith will be extra motivated with that clip. Give me Purdue money line!

Bulletin board material if we needed any

Welp - that's what you want if you're a competitor. Baldwin was BTDPOY last year and will most certainly cover Smith. I'm guessing Colvin will get a lot of action taking Baldwin. Smith needs to have an efficient game, and Purdue really can't afford loose possessions. Penn State can turn teams over. We shall see.

"...supposedly."

Someone needs to remind 'ol Ace that if it wasn't for Covid he wouldn't even be in the league anymore. No matter. He'll probably have the game of his life tonight. Ya know, just because.
Yeah, I don't get too excited about players in their 5th year of playing college ball. I'd say the same thing if Edey had decided to stay for his "covid year". Play your 4 years and move on. If Ace was that great, he'd be in the league by now. So your 23, 24 years old playing against guys years younger than you. So I guess that makes you a big deal??

I said the same thing about Dick at KU and anybody else that is playing their 5th year. We need to constantly point out the huge asterisk that needs to go by any stats that they put up. So glad this is the last year for that nonsense.

I thought this was the last year too and then I heard where a Womens VB player was coming back for her Covid year?

No I mean if they redshirted the Covid year. Not sure on the rules for that or if it even makes sense

There were no redshirts for Covid year from my understanding - just an extra year of eligibility - so any player that had eligibility, the COVID year (2020/2021 season) basically didn't count (whether you played or not) - freshman (like Edey and Ivey and Gillis/Newman as redshirt freshman) still had four years remaining afterwards. Jaden Ivey had three years of eligibility left when he entered the NBA Draft.

Ironically, the seniors from the previous year who used up eligibility in 2020 didn't get another year - even though no NCAA tournament for them.

Ok, so not Covid related but like TKR if he returns next year!!
RS Senior is not the same as extra covid year. If TKR comes back next year, he will have only played 4 years. Extra covid year gives guys 5 years of playing.

In the same year I have now watched both championship and last place basketball from Purdue. 😞

Typically coach fixes things with great adjustments @ half.
Not sure he can fix this though?

This was a game Vegas was begging people to take Purdue, I didn’t, stayed away all together. I like this Purdue team but it’s a flawed one for sure. Not much depth at all, lack of playable bigs as well. Very likely that Painter needs to hit the portal in the offseason for a big.

I agree. Said it before the game. Believe it to be almost malpractice if you have room and don't bring a guy or two in to get better. And coaches agree as everyone tries this. We had no room last year. Next year we do.

Sure we have DJ, but will he make it through a season? Yes, we also have Burgess who will be good as a Jr-Sr. But that's a long ways off.

I'd take that bet.

Jacobsen isn’t a for sure because of injury, Furst is gone, guessing Berg may leave as well, he’s won’t be forced off but a lower level probably is best for him and his game. I hope a 4 or 5 with game that fits is added.
