Purdue -18.5

That line seems high. I know we are playing at home, and IU is not good. However, this is going to be their NCAA tournament game, and it is a rivalry game.

We have had some blowouts against them in Mackey, and I hope this is one. I also hope this line would come down some.

For the record, my book is at 17.5, which as some may remember is exactly what I projected Monday. I think the number is where it needs to be based primarily on where it was in Bloomington (10.5 originally) and how that game went. Now you throw in no XJ for what it's worth, Ware hurt, playing in Mackey, and it's easy to see it at that number or even higher. I don't know if we'll cover and I probably won't touch it, but if it was in the lower teens everyone would hammer Purdue.

The only thing that scares me is how much iu closes the gap once the reserves go in. I could see Purdue being up 26 with 4 to go and iu leaving their starters in vs Berg and company.

XJ would help us. He's a sure 2 FTs and the ball out.

I watch IU a lot and I don’t think -17.5 is too high. There is something about both teams this year that makes me think that this will likely be a blowout.

It will come down to how the game is called. No X and they only have 10 players that have played at all this year, including Kaleb Banks who hasn’t logged minutes the past 4 games. Indiana can rotate a lot of bigs on Edey but if they get 3-4 guys in foul trouble it can be really uncomfortable for them.

On the flip, not sure Cupps playing the whole game is good for them either. Cupps is basically a shorter Ethan Morton playing 40 minutes with X out. Purdue will be playing 5 on 4 on defense. I don't see what all the hype with him was about from IU fans.

Cupps played on the same AAU team as Reed Sheppard (Kentucky) and Bronny James. That alone buoyed his ranking.

There would have to be a huge amount of money bet on IU to get that line to change that much. If Ware doesn't play it may actually go higher.
If Ware isn't playing this could easily be a blow out, but I always tend to be more sensible about this rivalry and just know we usually get Iu's best. Notice I said usually though.

Some of their forums (Inside the Hall) they are already commenting that if the refs don’t let them “bang around” with Edey they have 0 shot. I don’t think “banging” into Edey is something refs call, they tend to call things called fouls. The fan base has set the narrative that it is because of fouls and FTs that we run away with this one.
