Potential big news for Saturday

Maybe in the FF, but this team right now needs to right the ship and get some confidence back.
Yeah I just have a different perspective. Rather face them injured when a title or tournament is on the line rather than the reg season. This teams needs to keep getting challenged to the maximum degree in the reg season to get ready for post season. Painter has won enough in the reg season non con. Everything should be geared toward March which is why painter put this game on the schedule to begin with. Im sad we may miss them at full strength.
If Painter wanted to give the team a break he and get their confidence back he would have scheduled a cupcake. Now is the time to be challenged and grow before big ten play starts.

They will be plenty challenged even without him. PSU challenged the hell out of us

I bet Duke was royally pissed in The 1994 Elite Eight when BigDog was hurt and not nearly 100 percent before that game!🤣🤣
I hope you’re astute enough to recognize that an NCAAT game and a December game for a relatively young / new team that needs development aren’t remotely the same thing.

You nailed it. If you’re peeing your pants as a fan as to whether we make the NCAAT and need a win to help you feel happy and safe this injury is a good thing. If you’re MP and company playing a December game and trying to develop a team with a lot of guys in new roles, not getting to face the potential NPOY is a missed opportunity.

We don't not know he will be out ....but even Auburn without Broome will be challenging enough. I imagine in either case we will be looked at by Vegas to lose. Just a matter of how much would be my guess.

See my follow up post in this thread. I completely agree that if a title or tournament game is on the line, I hope all their starters get the flu before the game. But for this context of a game where it barely matters on the final season outcome, I wish they were at 100% to test the team.
Its all about context my man. Not every game means the same thing.

It won't impact the NET calculation if a player is injured/hurt. It will be something the selection committee can take into consideration when they do selections. Granted, with us both being highly ranked, I don't think it matters in the grand scheme.

I hope we win and want us to get every team's best shot.....now, I'm not a sucker and will gladly take a team that is missing a key player if it helps us win.

I understand wanting to get the win. I think back to the 2023 season and the tourney loss to FDU. Earlier in the season we played Hofstra and their best player, future Alabama and NBA player Aaron Estrada was out with an injury. Completely different situation than Auburn but I wonder if Purdue is better prepared for FDU if Estrada plays and the Hofstra game is competitive rather than a blowout.

If we had lost to Alabama and Ole Miss I'd almost certainly feel differently, but I'd be willing to trade a better chance of winning a December game for the chance to play against an elite player.

It'll matter more to Auburn's seeding than Purdue's though, if Purdue wins. You don't get a win discounted because the opponent isn't at full strength. But if it's close between Auburn and, say, Kansas for a #1 seed, it might come into play.
