Here are some 5th year guys that are eligible next year with ties to the area we may look at now that Ennis and Tarrant are off the board.

1) Johnny Hill PG 6ft 3in 180lbs from Glendale Heights, IL transferring from Texas-Arlington (Not sure of major or grades)

2) Karl Madison PG 5ft 9in 186lbs from Springfield, IL transferring from Drake (Not sure of major or grades)

3) De Shon "Biggie" Minnis PG 6ft 3in 200lbs from Philly, PA transferring from Rhode Island (Not sure of major or grades)

I myself like the taller guards that can rebound and defend with the long arms like two of the 3 above, but also like quick guards that can defend.

With PJ and Weatherford being smaller quicker guards I hope we take a look at some of these taller 6ft 3in 5th year guys.

Boiler Up!

WHY DO YOU SAY ENNIS IS OFF THE BOARD? GBI OR A RESPECTABLE SOURCE HAS NOT REPORTED IT, RELAX.

So I know a JC guy would most likely be a two year commit and they may already be gone but there may be a couple as good as some of these Div. 1 guys especially another guy nicknamed "Biggie" How does 6'3" and 200 lbs pg get the nickname "Biggie"? Minds wander. I have an attitude about that name anyway for some reason...can't figure out why though:) No Biggie, I guess.

Weatherford is not, small. I wouldn't describe him as lanky like Octeus, but he can rebound for a guard. He's got great hops and he's strong.

I wouldn't consider PJ fast either, yet. That's my biggest hope for him this offseason. Cut down some of the baby fat and get a bit quicker.

Smaller than 6ft 3in which is my point.....yes he is 6ft 1in so not small but not 6ft 3in....read the whole post.

The current guards at Purdue are too slow, a half step behind. You can't teach speed. You either have it or you don't and they don't have any speed.

What about Anthony Collins? 6'1 PG from USF who averaged 7 and 5 ast. Not sure if there is mutual interest

I would like Collins I don't want a scoring PG I want a distributor. We have bugs that need to be fed and we have plenty of offense outside the PG. All I care about is assists and FT%. What was Collins FT%?

Career 73% FT shooter, but has gotten worse each year.
2014-15: 68%
2013-14: 76%
2012-13: 78%
2011-12; 84%

Just read his final 3 is Georgetown, Baylor, and Tenessee

What I don't understand is why Painter is recruiting some guys, when it basically looks like they will never play, then have to go after a 5th year transfer!

I probably don't understand your post, but I've got to ask, besides Scott, who doesn't play?
Scott didn't play because of other issues. He had the speed and skills, just did not get it with regard to Painter's offense/defense.

There's PJ and Weatherford, both recruited to play point, and as you said Scott, like if these guys aren't good enough to play much, why recruit them? Both will be here and he is going pretty hard after a 5th year player. You might say that Painter was wrong on how good they are, but throw in Ronnie and you got 4 in a row ! Just my thoughts

I know Ronnie was starting point guard, maybe I am not wording my comments right, I am saying basically, of the last 4 point guards recruited to Purdue, the two next year look like they won't play much, as Bryson Scott didn't play a lot this year, Ronnie didn't work out, I still feel like he left for problems between him and Painter, so evidently Painter is recruiting guys that aren't really going to play or work out at the point lately, so is Painter recruiting the wrong type players or are the guys he recruits just not that good?

Nobody has the real inside scoop, but to think Ronnie got pushed out is a stretch. Ronnie's dad got in his ear and it became all about Ronnie & getting to the NBA. Hard to coach someone that is focusing only on what he's hearing from his dad (Likely a little unrealistic dad).

Bryson is much harder to figure - he seemed to be a perfect Painter type player. Great on the ball defender willing to put in the work. He just needed to play under control and limit the mistakes. I think he was blind to his own mistakes and thought he was better than he was. As such, he was miffed when he didn't start or get the bulk of the minutes. That doesn't mean he wasn't capable of being a very good PG, just that he wasn't happy. He may or may not end up having a good career (I'm guessing it won't be that good unless he takes a much longer look in the mirror and starts listening to his coaches).

Bottom line, both players could be (or rather should be) solid D1 players, but just didn't buy into Painter and/or his system.

I don't think Bryson is a fair example - he played PG in high school but I always thought he was better suited as a SG and I thought he was recruited as a SG. PJ was a late signee out of desperation after RJ left. The last true PG we signed that was a decent recruit and had the skill set for painters system was LewJack and I thought we got 4 good years out of him, especially since he was not a top recruit. Purdue doesn't score a lot of points and the PGs don't build up a robust stat line so it is hard to recruit them.

Four in a Row? Seems like you are dismissing a kid before he even set foot on our court. WTF? Are you pushing an agenda? RJ and Scott I can understand. PJ needed more time. He might be our starter this year. So, maybe it is at worst, 2 out 4. Actually both Ron and Scott were "good enough" but we're not as coach able as we would like. By the way, RJ was not "run off". Lots of corrections needed in your innocent inquiry. Funny about that.

Well that is what I think, if you disagree, then that's fine, read into it what you want, its hard to get some points across by typing instead of talking.
