With the announcement that this is no longer going to be happening, I'm curious. How many people actually went to one of these? I know I never made it.

We attended a few. We had season tickets for Hazell's first year - and went to 2 or 3. The pre-game band concert was one of our favorite traditions - so we followed it inside. Not the same.

After that, I only went to talk to my niece and nephew when they were there for band day.

Living in TX, I don't get to go to the games. Last game I attended was the Heart of Dallas Bowl. So what exactly was the 211 session?

The band is still going to be there on Sat (as of tonight). they may not have enough time to move it back to Slayter for this week but hopefully they can get it done before the end of the season.

Hazell supposedly copied it from OSU where they have a pep session in the b-ball arena and the team visits and Hazell said a few words. It was pretty empty outside of the band and player's parents.

After the team leaves they walk to the locker rooms but there were only about 25 people there to cheer the team on and 20 of those were on the big drum and the Boilermaker Special.

Moving the band from Slayter to Mackey was another tradition kill for Purdue.

Never missed a game but never saw a session. Too busy tailgating to drop everything midway.

Must admit, though, that having the band concert at Slayter after the game became a nice consolation to end all the otherwise bleak days.

I remember the post game band concert was in front of Hovde Hall by the fountain.
Pregame concert was at Slayter. My son was in AAMB 2001-2004.

As soon as I heard it was scrapped for the Slayter Hill concert, I knew it was going to be a huge disappointment. I think some one told me they were lucky to get 100 to 200 people at those things and they were mostly band parents.

I went one and hated it. Granted, I was in the Marching Band in the Herrmann years and had season tickets throughout the Brees/Orton years. Slayter was a fantastic place to tailgate and enjoy the atmosphere. Going inside and missing the electricity of college football was a terrible idea.
