Pitch a bitch to ESPN, CBS ... Again and again

This thread needs to die. Any good holiday cocktail recipes?

When I think holidays I want a rich egg nog. Add your favorite bourbon or spiced rum, top with cinnamon and fresh nutmeg and you have a winner in my book.

Now I have to go buy some egg nog before the game today.

Well, good for you! And it's a good thing you're able to get rides from state to state, because you keep missing the boat on this thread.

BTN has not been and never will be a higher profile network than CBS or ESPN, and for Purdue to sustain success these days, the major national networks are where we need to be.

I wouldn't ever say that BTN is the on the same level of exposure as an ESPN, ESPN2, etc. And we absolutely need to be on those kind of networks. But unfortunately, how TV works is basically a year behind. The way they decide coverage is based on ratings (usually from your previous success) and preseason expectations (which are hit and miss).

Florida, @Pitt, OSU, Maryland, MSU, @UM, @IU, @Maryland are all games Purdue will be on ESPN or ESPN2 (doesn't include the games we are on ESPNU). So your argument doesn't really hold water.

I think it's amusing that you believe every game Purdue plays should be on ESPN, it really does make you sound like a 2 year old.

Point of fact -- we haven't played ANY games on ESPN, asshole.

Twice we've been on ESPN2 against high-profile teams but directly opposite higher-profile games on ESPN, which were still being promoted repeatedly within our own telecast. Subsequently, less weight has been given to our win at Pitt -- its only loss this season -- or to our win over Florida -- a three-loss team we beat by 15 on a neutral court but a team that lost by only six at "No. 1" Michigan State.

The lack of exposure is largely why we sagged all the way down to No. 14 in the polls after just one loss -- a game buried on BTN that we easily could have and should have won, despite playing barely 14 minutes of quality basketball against a ranked foe, but a game that went unseen by most of the country. Even playing our worst, we closed within a possession of Butler. (I'm sure many on here already had tuned out.)

Many of the above posters are, in fact, complete and utter fools who simply don't know better, arguing in a Purdue forum that Purdue doesn't need more exposure to sustain its program. When you grow up, maybe you'll come to learn what most of us have witnessed for years -- that Purdue routinely has drawn far better exposure through its long and record-setting history, and that exposure is a major factor in building upon success, drawing yet more high-quality recruits. Meanwhile, idiots here will argue the opposite and sit idly by, then, after another lower-division swoon, they'll again claim it's all the athletic director's fault for failing to spend enough while the program was up.

Dumb and Dumber to.

I have no idea why I'm even getting back into this ridiculous thread other than to point out the highest rated college sporting event on Saturday was the Ohio-Appalachian bowl game that was on directly opposite of us. We could be ranked #1 in the country and ESPN would've still selected a bowl game (which they did 6 months ahead of time and will do again next year).

And we didn't drop in the polls because of what channel we were on. By your logic, less people should've seen it and therefore would've been less inclined to vote us lower. We dropped because we lost.

This. Suggesting we went lower in the polls because we weren't on espn is just asinine.

Wow, you can't read apparently because my post said ESPN OR ESPN2. Not completely surprised since you started your reply with ad hominem. Purdue will have games on ESPN, but you're too unintelligent to realize that there are 25 other teams Bitching about the same shit as you are, many of them playing the same days/times (Saturday especially).

Are you upset that our terrible performance against butler wasn't on ESPN? The only thing Purdue needs to do is win, the "exposure" will follow.

Also your last line is very ironic, unless of course you were referring to yourself.
