phelps, best turn ever in swimming

He literally went from half a body length behind, to half a body ahead on the turn. And then stretched the lead to a full body length by the end of his leg. Dude is a freak.
Yup. there were some very notable things about that leg. His .08 reaction off the platform was a huge risk, but perfectly done. The turn, as you noted, was legendary. His time of 47.1 was faster than his beijing time and only 2 tenths off the world record 100 meter free style. just an insane, and much needed, gold medal performance.

I couldn't help but wonder if he was included only to help him get to 20 golds, and that he would slow them down at age 31. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I hadn't realized that his reaction time was .08 seconds. That's freaking insane. It is ballsy, but then again he is Michael Phelps. Sort of like Bellicheck going for it on fourth and 2 on his own 29 yard line. Or Keith Hernandez on Seinfeld, "I'm Keith Hernandez".

Thanks for the video. Real time last night on NBC he looked like a freaking torpedo and in fact he did torpedo anyone who thought they had a chance. Loved it! USA up!!!
