Out of 14 scheduled bowl/playoff games, SEC now 5-5. Close loss for Washington against Louisville.

There's a chance the SEC could be excluded from the Final Four. If that happens, I expect their conference to start to get even louder about another type (read: separate) of playoff.
Alabama sure proved they belonged in the playoff.

Well, the OSU-Oregon game will give the Big10 another automatic loss as well as another automatic win making the winning percentage of games lower.

Although I can see where you're coming from, can't see Arizona State knocking out Texas, Tommaker.....serious mis-match there.

Still, the SEC and Big Ten (plus eight) cartel is getting what they want.

Yeah, the first quarter, 2 offensive plays and 14 points have killed that. I think this game continues to show that 4 teams in the playoffs are plenty.

Even with a 4-team playoff for as long as we had it, there were TONS of blowouts. More blowouts than competitive games really. There's no real answer.

Like many, I'd be ok with eight, but 12 it is....for now. They should seriously consider looking at the seeding/bye process, though - or risk an unbalanced bracket like this year, IMO.

Already broke a New Year resolution with further comment on this....haha.

No matter how a playoff is set up, not everyone would be happy. Personally, I prefer doing away with seeds and having a random drawing for opponents, otherwise you're trying to bias the results with seeding. Then each round another random drawing. Otherwise, a system where you're out after two losses. You can have as few or as many teams as you want in the playoffs. And perhaps two teams from the same conference shouldn't face each other until it is necessary, although there probably shouldn't be two teams from the same conference unless you're trying to find an actual real second place team and not just one champion.

Colossal coverage breakdown by ASU on that 4th down in the first overtime….

Helluva game, and yet another in the multitude of reasons why college overtime is infinitely superior to the joke that is NFL overtime!🤮

Texas handled ASU’s blitz on that play easily. It allowed Ewers his choice of man coverages. ASU fans experienced there what Purdue BB fans did vs Virginia.

Yeah.....Can't fault the decision to blitz - Texas did pick it up and was ready for it - but had to think it was going to Golden no matter what. In the end, Arizona State had their opportunity and ended up being a really good contest.

Might set up the Cotton Bowl Endowment Classic next week......

Do you have a call on the OSU/Oregon game? :)

It's stuffed duck for New Year's buffet - wowzer.

In all seriousness, losing to Michigan might have been the best thing for Ohio State - they are playing well and seem more focused. Plus, they are utilizing Smith, and he is producing bigtime. I will be hearing it from two of my brothers who have resided in the Buckeye State their entire lives.

This CFP OSU Buckeye team did not want to be around and waste it’s energy on the regular season. There is no question, this team is playing on another level and on a mission. Pressure will all be on UT in the Cotton Bowl.

Yes. and I think it's now obvious that Oregon didn't belong in the playoffs. :p (so much TIC it's coming out the other cheek)
