OT - Sporting News Named Kansas's Mason NPOY

Biggie is a great story and being a Purdue alumni I want him to win, but I think it down to Mason and Biggie on the AP NPOY and with Mason being a senior with a slight advantage unfortunately.

It's also an advantage that Mason's team is higher ranked and a favorite to win the title.

You know what I find funny, those that live in the media bubble always tell us that the only important thing in college basketball is doing well in the NCAA tourney, but then turn right around and give out national player of the year awards based on regular season only.

17 Total Consensus AA's....but many were also Consensus for multiple years (Wooden was an AA 3x for example). Going on what I said earlier about making statues for our best players...how cool would it be to have an area inside or extended off of Mackey (a Boilermaker HOF for men's and women's bball) that had a bust or a statue for each of the consensus AA's! I would be all for creating a Boilermaker Basketball HOF wing inside Mackey.

Earlier in the season, my gut feeling it was Hart, Swanigan, and then Mason. With Kansas prevailing in some key close games and closing out another Big XII title, I think Mason jumped to the lead, and I think Biggie is probably ahead of Hart. I think they are all worthy candidates, and I would love to see Caleb Swanigan receive the award, but I suspect it will be Mason. Kansas has a lot of cache right now, like it or not, fair or not, IMO.

TV crews eat this stuff up. I can't remember the last Purdue home game I watched where they did not show either the Boilermaker statue or the Armstrong statue, usually both. Those little touches make a difference.

Not to mention, those top recruits typically have a mentality of leaving a legacy where ever they are...like Biggie. You don't think a statue or a bust showing our best ever players wouldn't play to that vanity JUST a little bit?

Honestly, switch Kansas and Purdue and do you think Kansas wins the conference title 13 straight years? Hell no...at the same time, do you think CMP probably has more than one outright and one shared title in the Big 12? You are damn right he would.

What about placing their reliefs up like a Mount Rushmore?
