OT - Regional Final Games

Houston's defense is stifling, only allowing 3s and offensive rebounds. Tennessee offense is a complete free-for-all right now, and that's not good for them.

Correction: MISSED 3s

3/16 (0-9 from deep).......yikes - only positive for Tennessee so far is Roberts out for Houston with two fouls. Cryer (5) has already equaled his total from Friday. Long way to go, and Tennessee has the defense to climb back in this, but they are not playing nearly as well as they had up to this game.

Halftime couldn't come soon enough for TN. Fewest points a #2 seed has ever scored in one half of an NCAA Tournament game.

big assumption there, matter of matchups, maybe Tenn plays better vs us and not have this type of game vs PU. Our missed opportunity was not scoring more in the 1st half when Houston was off
Was thinking something similar. Can we get a stretch 4 that can rebound and/or a legitimate shot blocker and go on a NC run next season?

(While we’re dreaming - Preferably another Octeus or Jones type guard would be great too)

We would’ve killed Tennessee. Missed opportunity.

Maybe/Maybe not, IMO - that's not a great match-up for Purdue this year either. Mindset and emotions can be unpredictable - not sure the Vols would be nearly as tight, and you have several players on that team who lost to Purdue last year.

However, we'll never know. I thought this would be a battle from start to finish - didn't see 34-15 coming at the half. With all that, I would not count out Tennessee yet, and Houston has shown they can lose leads......but, it doesn't look good right now.

Missed opportunity to play for it......no question.

Cougars took the Volunteers to the woodshed......69-50. A lot of bricks from Tennessee and couldn't force enough turnovers. Three top seeds in San Antonio with two teams left to play and one more spot left.

Duke (1) v. Houston (1)

Florida (1) v. Auburn (1)/Michigan State (2)

Chalk City voyage continues.

Honestly, I thought Tennessee played harder (or at least with more urgency) for much of the 2nd half. But, their ball pressure defense gave Houston way too many wide open 3s in the last 5 minutes.

4 number ones has only happened once - think it’s gonna be twice

Can't be one dimensional against Auburn. MSU is complete trash shooting the ball and even missing their layups too.

This is a typical grinder Michigan State game - they get down sometimes in the first half (trailed Mississippi by double digits)......however, they are really good finishing games. Down nine at the half......if they keep it close, I would not be surprised if they somehow prevail.

We'll see if Pearl's team can continue to outduel Izzo's.

What coach will get the best out of the refs in the 2nd half? Pearl likes to complain to the refs too.

Sparty running out of time.....gave it a fight and Auburn got a little tight.......but Auburn moves on to the Chalk Four next weekend.

A lot of casual fans probably have the last four correct....haha.

When kohler is your leading scorer, you’re not gonna win too many games.

Their inability to shoot finally caught up to them. Playing a 15, 10 and the 6 helps to get to the E8. Wonder how much they’ll use the portal

Same. So far, Houston and Duke look like the toughest teams.
Florida is pretty damn good but don’t always put all 40 mins together. Florida will beat Auburn if Broome isn’t 100%.

Was really surprised how Auburn couldn’t handle the press…AT ALL.

Yeah, they had a shockingly easy path to the E8. MSU fans had this delusional take that their team was somehow elite. My take is that they played above their ability for most of the season, coupled with some gratuitous timing/scheduling.

Good team, no doubt. Just not elite.

Similarly to the Round 2 matchup with the vacated Final Four coaches, we could possibly have the first ever Show Cause NCAA Final.....wonder if they would have a pre-game ceremony for that?

"Ladies and Gentlemen.....if you'll direct your attention to the center of the arena floor where a special award will be given to our two championship participant coaches. To Houston coach Kelvin Sampson - always available to take or return your call - a crystal engraved cell phone. To Auburn coach Bruce Pearl - his down-home neighborhood hospitality knows no limits - a silver plated commemorative BBQ. Congratulations Coaches! Please give them the round of applause they deserve..........."
