Well, there's your issue. You have to first like yourself before you can start fully liking others.
No issue with that. Just need everyone to be more like me.
Well, there's your issue. You have to first like yourself before you can start fully liking others.
I truly dislike people calling others "racist" based on the interpretation of a single sentence in some random post. Not only is it deeply flawed, but it shows a fundamental ignorance. Let's cut this crap off and start talking about Purdue basketball. Anyone on her that thinks he or she can identify a poster with racial bias using a couple posts is nuts. I don't want to read anymore "your a racist" comments from anyone. It just demonstrates a level of stupidity that I find remarkable in anyone who claims to have graduated from Purdue.
Let's try this. If a white NBA player was publicly making it clear that he didn't like President Obama or his policies, then he made a public statement about how he was happy that his child had a white role model, what would you think? It's funny it's almost like you can't read, but ur boy emartin said he has an issue with LeBron's daughter having a "black" role model and stated that he doesn't like his stance on "black and white". My problem was never with you, but you have made it clear you are either supremely biased or can't read so before you continue your journey down the "righteous" path re evaluate the original posts. After doing this if you still find your previous opinion valid then go find a mirror and you will see the problem.
Have you ever lived in another country -- or even traveled overseas? You have no idea.Boiler_HD you are the man. You get it. Keeping preaching, man. Lot of ignorance in this world, unfortunately, and people don't want to admit the this country has a systemic racism problem, especially since it's not outwardly apparent to many people.

Where did I say I found issue with it? You continue to be intellectually dishonest about the topic. Is this why you can't answer my question? This response was answer enough that you don't get it. Plenty of prominent athletic figures have spoken out against Obama, hell people still attack him today. This whole white versus black role model thing is hilarious. Lebron was specifically discussing Simone Biles a black gymnast in what is historically a white priviledged sport. And if you find issue with his statement then I still think you should look in the mirror at the problem.
Have you ever lived in another country -- or even traveled overseas? You have no idea.
Most of the acts that are considered racism against minorities have been occurring in long-time Democrat run cities. Yet, you keep electing them while trying to blame people who play absolutely no role in local law enforcement. These same "public servants" are in charge of education and the local economy. The people keep suffering, the local politicians keep getting richer, and you keep electing them. That's not ignorance. It's insanity.
Posted in page one: "I think he means you need to find a way to come to terms with your own racist behavior and quit trying to project it on others you don't even know." Referencing one of your posts.I usually respect your viewpoints mathboy, but can you tell me where anyone was called racist in this thread other than Lebron? It's like people read half the thread and ignore the rest.
Learning to love yourselfWell, there's your issue. You have to first like yourself before you can start fully liking others.
Where did I say I found issue with it? You continue to be intellectually dishonest about the topic. Is this why you can't answer my question?
Or was I on target about you rejecting your own upbringing and seeking some twisted atonement by charging people you don't even know with racism?

Suggest you read the threads more carefully. There are several other "racist" references also. You seem to be the primary one calling people names throughout this whole thread, not something I think you want to be known for. Maybe its time for a "time out" on this subject.
I was basically defending you. I don’t think you expressed any racist behavior. I think you have been relatively impolite to some others here, however. So just to clarify because some said I have "racist behavior" that's means it must be true, but your ignoring Martin's original post that started the whole argument with reference to his issue with "black role models" and LeBron being racist. A response to those statements should be what you are quoting for the proof lol.
Just wanted to make sure that you also biased, or maybe you missed it. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
the only thing Lebron has done in his career that bothered me was The Decision. Still not a big fan of it, but he did raise $5.5M for charities by agreeing to do the show.
read about lebron's childhood and you will appreciate him all the more. i think he missed more school in 3rd grade than he attended because of his mom's substance abuse issues. he never has known his father. he has been called the next great one since 14 years old.
given all of that, he is by all appearances a responsible father, faithful husband, consummate teammate , loyal friend. he has always been far more self aware than one should realistically expect from someone with his upbringing.
All of this talk started after our nation finally elected a black president -- twice. So what is your evidence for racism that counters what I just stated? Are you claiming systemic against whites? Asians? Get specific instead of just throwing out wild accusations and telling people they just don't get.Not disagreeing. Both parties suck. But if you think systemic racism just comes from politics and related legislation, then boy do you need to open your eyes even more.
You wrote, "Try to not look too obscenely racist with your retort." Then you claimed you did not call someone racist. This is where I call intellectual dishonesty. It's the old, "Have you stopped beating your wife?" ploy. Dishonest and cowardly.I
I will simplify this for you. I have not called anyone a racist. Reading and comprehension would help you come to this conclusion.
I will answer your question, yes I would find issue with the your scenario and no I don't find issue with what LeBron said regarding his daughter and Simone Biles.
As a graduate of Purdue and a former division I athlete I have witnessed many appalling acts of racism toward African American athletes (and outside of athletics) all around our country and the world. I have not seen the same behavior toward myself or other middle class white American athletes, or individuals or to the same extent. So when LeBron states his daughter has a strong black role model it is probably because many black athletes are unfairly labeled thugs, inmates, etc.
Your atonement argument is merely an attempt to ignore the issue here, it's cute but I could repeatedly say the same for you, but I attempt to actually respond to the points presented. So I've answered your question. Feel free to answer mine.

I have absolutely no problem with what Lebron said about his daughter's role model. But you admit that you would "have issue with" a white player doing the same thing. You double down by saying that someone taking issue with Lebron doing the same thing is racist. Your attitude, by definition, is racist.
But you are getting to the heart of the problem, and it isn't the people on this board. If you feel guilty about witnessing appalling acts of racism (and apparently did nothing about it), then deal with your own guilt. Don't accuse people you don't know of racism because they somehow trigger your guilt.
So you have have called me racist, and are asking me to stop calling others racist. This is like comedy. You still avoid questions which I have answered, seems like you have some type of fear of honestly approaching the subject.
You seem to default to this argument that I have some type of guilt, it's unfortunate that you can't come up with something at least a bit more solid.
Anyways, I realize your responses will only consist of attempts to claim I have some type of past guilt. You will never properly answer the question, just like emartin who has appropriately been quiet. If you think there is no problem with the statements then stick with that instead of trying to create these equality scenarios, because no matter what you think, African Americans and minorities live at a constant disadvantage in our country. If you don't see that take off your rose colored glasses.
Get specific, please. Stop with your fake moral superiority about race and stop accusing people of violating your standards, which you can't verbalize, but accuse them anyway.Wild accusations? Geez. Yeah, because we elected a black president, all racism is gone! Lmao just please.
I thought I did answer your question. If not, do you even remember what it was?So you have have called me racist, and are asking me to stop calling others racist. This is like comedy. And by your standards, I did NOT call you a racist. See how that works? But I did say that your admitted double standard based on race is indeed racist. By definition.
Are you really trying to correct the injustice some people experience in this country by calling someone you don't know a racist on a message board? Or are you just making yourself feel better about yourself acting like some social justice warrior?
Finally, about your comment that "African Americans and minorities live at a constant disadvantage in our country": How? What do you base this on? PLEASE provide something other than an emotional response.
Get specific, please. Stop with your fake moral superiority about race and stop accusing people of violating your standards, which you can't verbalize, but accuse them anyway.
Edit: You see, I gave a very specific example. I don't know how old you are (I assume you are very young), but things are much better for minorities than they were when I was growing up. You dismiss the fact that a black man was granted the highest office by the people of this nation -- twice. In fact, he was elected by the majority people of our nation to the highest leadership position in the world -- twice. And you dismissed it. Where else does a minority have that opportunity? Canada? England? France? Germany? Russia? China? Japan?
Kind of just tired of arguing with you, as another put it you're intellectually dishonest in your arguments. You attack a person rather than just have a civilized debate. I mean the guy has tattooed "choosen one" on his back...So you have have called me racist, and are asking me to stop calling others racist. This is like comedy. OK, then this should be easy for you. Select the most fantastic one and give the citation. There is a wealth of fantastic scholarly peer reviewed articles easily accessible to you describing the many disadvantages minorites face in our country. I would love to post every article but literally anyone with a brain could search for via Google scholar, Wiley library, and so on to view these papers. These inequalities include but are not limited to wage gaps, infant deaths, school enrollment, school expulsion, loan denial (similar credit scores as the white counterparts), access to well funded schools. The list literally goes on and on. If you continue to deny this exists you literally denying statistical fact.
Ah, raw statistics . And with analysis and perspective by the great scholars at Ben & Jerry's. Please don't cite this in your term paper.hahaha well I sure as shit hope things are much better. Better than lynchings, segregated schools, etc. ...yeah, the bar was set real high back when you were growing up.
Want some examples? It literally took me all of 3 seconds to google it, and even frickin' Ben and Jerry's ice cream gets it (see link below). Sheesh. Even so, it doesn't matter how many examples you're given -- if you still deny it now, you'll likely never see it, primarily because you don't want to. I can't help you there.

Come on, man. This country is a great country, but we can do so much better. That's what's great about this country -- as citizens, we actually have a say in improving and allowing for this country to reach its fullest potential. Understanding our faults is part of that process.
Ah, raw statistics . And with analysis and perspective by the great scholars at Ben & Jerry's. Please don't cite this in your term paper.
Now it's clear why you dismissed the point about the POTUS. And why the point about education went over your head. And when I pointed out that one political party controls the schools, law enforcement, job creation, and local governments in the communities where conditions are the worst for minorities, you ignored it. See, you want to point to outcomes without looking at causes. It's easy (lazy) to blame it all on racism, because then you don't have to think.
If there is racism, it isn't coming from the source you assume it is. You want to do something to make things better for these poor people? Stop electing the same politicians decade after decade in those communities! I assume you have seen the definition of insanity?
Kind of just tired of arguing with you, as another put it you're intellectually dishonest in your arguments. You attack a person rather than just have a civilized debate. I mean the guy has tattooed "choosen one" on his back...
OK, then this should be easy for you. Select the most fantastic one and give the citation.
If it will be easier, give me the one single statistic that is most troublesome for you -- the one statistic that drives you to see skin color in everything. The one that makes you scream "racism" when it triggers you.
Hmm. You wasted time typing this and your previous rant about how many "fantastic" studies have been published that prove America is a racist nation. At least Boilerdeac posted a link to Ben & Jerrys because he thought it was real data and analysis. It's clear that you've got less than Boilerdeac. Why should I waste my time giving you a citation when you should educate yourself. Based on the response to boilerdeac I already realize you ignore statistics and research as a basis for understanding the problem.
And I don't have one statistic that bothers me the most, all forms of racial discrimination are terrible and deserves recognition. Enjoy attempting to constantly ignore the argument and screaming "but so are you", only thing you are proving is how close off to the problem plenty of individuals of minority face in our "great country".

The real question is, how do you think accusing people of racism on a message board is going to help people? Or you? It clearly isn't making you feel better. But you have emotionally dug your heels in and can't think about this rationally enough to present a good case. You admitted that you have your own race-based prejudices, but in your mind, that isn't racist.
Yes, racism exists. And it shouldn't. But when you go around squealing "racism" every time someone says something you don't like, the real thing can get lost in your noise. Just as you don't see it in your own admitted attitudes.
I'll check them out. But you can stop with the fake moral high ground. I have been studying this topic for years. And your fake moral superiority over martin, which you keep bringing up, is pure hypocrisy. You admitted doing having the same belief that you said was so wrong of him.I could have predicted this response. I knew you wouldn't want to educate yourself. Fortunately for you I do have a couple of great articles/book chapters to allow you to attempt to read.

There's this crazy thing as well, where the authors of these articles cite others, so to continue reading you can follow to citations however you would like.
As for the rest of your quoted post, you can continue to dodge the problem martin originally presented. <3

I'll give my assessment of your links later. Now, back to the game! Go Boilers!
Thanks, Boiler_HD. Apologies from me, as well. I wasn't going to return to this thread until I did as promised and read them. Thanks for the links. I have read them, and should we ever get a chance to discuss over a beer, I'll buy the first round.Yeah, start of basketball season should mark the end of this thread. I'll apologize for the aggression, if you guys would like to PM me regarding the topic I would be more than happy to talk. Hopefully you can enjoy the articles I linked, I believe they have some good information and viewpoints.
Boiler Up my friends.
