Well-coached team, and, they are solid...Brooks I believe is the one with some potential "big-time" talent (he has offers from Butler and Northwestern, among others, and it is anticipated that he will receive more interest and offers).Just looked, they are 17-2 on the year. Looking at stats, they are led by the Barnhiser boys (probably brothers playing for their dad, who has the same last name) both are averaging over 20 ppg and nearly 10 boards. Anyone know about them? Big time talents?
Thank you for posting. I graduated from there in 1974. Used to pack in 7000 a game. CC was damn good too. Hope for much success for Barnhiser, he could play.Just looked, they are 17-2 on the year. Got to throw in Rossville from 69-72Thank you for posting. I graduated from there in 1974. Used to pack in 7000 a game. CC was damn good too. Hope for much success for Barnhiser, he could play.
I've said this before, but since you were a Hornet I'll add that Rossville has put out a lot of really good ball players...as has Tipton with both being small towns. Not sure where Mike Jones went right after Rossville, but thinking Delphi. His brother Shannon was coach of Lewis Cass for many years...Rossville grad ('79), you stole my heart TJ. Those teams were somethine else for sure, especially factor in the small school angle. They gave East Chicago Washington, arguably the best state team ever, all they could handle, if john kamstra hadn't got a bad back in the earlier game, maybe a different outcome. Fun times indeed, playing in mackey arena, knocking off Jeff...etc
memories
He (Mike) was around Warsaw I think in the early to mid 80s. "He (Shannon) was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Jim, Pat, Mike and Shane Jones; and three sisters, Janet Bradshaw, Joyce Witbank and JoAnn Brown."I know Mike did end up at Delphi. Seems he might've went to another school more north for a bit, not sure. Did not know that about a brother, I know he had a son named Shannon.
Before Lewis Cass Shannon was at Grass Creek HS and North Caston HS I think. As I recall when I played at Royal Center HS/ Pioneer HS in the early 60's, Shannon Jones was the coach at North Caston HS (Allen Wills - Phil's brother) a rival school. However, North Caston was a new consolidation of Grass Creek HS (Phil Wills - Purdue) and maybe Fulton HS I think. Anyway I believe Shannon Jones coached at Grass Creek HS prior to the consolidation.I think his obit talked a bit about Caston in the early 60s
Used to stop in Tbone T'roy's??? for a tenderloin years ago in Royal Center. Have a friend that used to live a couple miles north to the fork and then right on the fork maybe 3 or so miles out of Royal Center. As I recall when I played at Royal Center HS/ Pioneer HS in the early 60's, Shannon Jones was the coach at North Caston HS (Allen Wills - Phil's brother) a rival school. I knew the owners well. Who was your friend in RC of you don't mind me asking?Used to stop in Tbone T'roy's??? for a tenderloin years ago in Royal Center. Have a friend that used to live a couple miles north to the fork and then right on the fork maybe 3 or so miles out of Royal Center.
Rod Weaver...still a friend, but don't see him much anymore. He had a couple of brothers. All I recall was going north out of RC a mile or two on 35 there is a slight fork in the road and if you take the right fork for a couple of miles or so he grew up on a farm on the left side. A nephew's wife taught there for a few years maybe 5 or 6 years ago and an ex sec (good gal, but can't recall her name Theresa ???) that was almost across from the school and maybe a house or two south or first house entering RC????I knew the owners well. When I grew up and lived there RC contained a number of Weavers. They were either older or younger than me.Rod Weaver...still a friend, but don't see him much anymore. He had a couple of brothers.
