This is very off topic, but Boilers are a community for life. My best friend and I graduated in the class of 1998. He unfortunately lost a 3 year battle with cancer last week at the age of 40 leaving his wife and 2 children (ages 6 and 8) behind. We are trying to raise money so that the family can navigate the coming difficult months without this burden. Also, we want to share his memory and how a community has come together to celebrate his life. Please take a moment and visit the following pages. Maybe his story of inspiration will get to someone who needs it.

Condolences. I was a student at Purdue around that time. It's not fair to lose someone so young.

Thanks for posting this. It's a difficult reminder of how precious, yet sometimes unfair, life can be. My prayers and deepest sympathy go out to his wife and children, their family, and friends. Hopefully they will find strength and comfort from those who lend a supporting hand.

My son graduated in 1998 and I have two grandchildren 12 and 8. I would hate to think about something like this. I already gave (thread on the pay board) and was gratified so many had responded.

My condolences. I did not know him but he was not only a fellow Boilermaker engineer (the best kind imho) but a fellow RR teammate.

My condolences. The C word is the word that strikes fear in so many as it takes so much away from all that have dealt with it...even survivors. I lost one brother-in-law to cancer and have another brother-in-law that is a survivors...but with cost. He was much too young...I'm sorry.
