Without naming names (it's obvious who I'm talking about) this guy is really hurting the team with his inability to hit an open shot. I think we can all be resigned to the fact that this guy is and will always be a spot up 3 pt shooter. He hasn't developed the ability to handle the ball or get to the rim. Ok, fine. But if that's what you're going to do, then you have have to hit some shots outside of garbage time.
Against iu, we had a 7 pt lead and the ball. This guy gets a wide open, and I mean wide open, look from 3 and can't knock it down. Stretching the lead to 10 at that point would have been huge.
Not sure if he's go the yips, lacks confidence, if it's a mechanics issue or what. But we don't need a more another Ethan Morton.

Nobody hit 3s in that game. Braden is 1 for 9 in his last 3 games. We kicking him out too?

There are two guys struggling to hit threes right now, but both are doing a lot of other things well. I don’t know what it will take for them to break out of their respective slumps, but I believe that they are good players and talented shooters and I like that Painter is being patient with them.

When I said go after Johnell Davis some said no but a average of 9.5 good on the board has 18 against Kentucky would have added more to the lineup

When 2 freshmen (Cox, Harris) are WAY ahead than him...........

I think picking on Colvin and Heide is a little cheap, it's tough to play in short segments and they don't have the luxury like the Big 3 who can have a whole half of off shooting but have the 2nd half to have the chance to put up big numbers

Not picking on them. Just stating some facts. Heide brings more than Colvin with his ability to rebound. Both were given opportunities to start and prove themselves and both lost that starting role. its like being a DH in baseball: you have to produce at some point.

Let’s all keep in mind Myles is 19 and is a sophomore. Cox is 20 (and a full year older) and a freshman. Unlike most players Myles reclassified earlier and much earlier than most (meaning most take an extra year to be the “bigger kid” etc….like Cox.

I thought we should have added Anthony Edwards. I think he would have helped too and was about as likely as Purdue adding Davis.

I mean both are playing more minutes than last season and doing less than last year with those added minutes.

I don't think they should do anything but graduate as Boilers but it's beyond fair to suggest that they haven't done a ton to expand their games.

Colvin is better on defense but that's about it between them. They are shooting worse, in more minutes and rebounding less in more minutes.

That's not awesome.

All we need is 1 of them to step up and hit the 3. We need another Lance Jones.

The point he is trying to make is that Cox and/or Heidi have not been a reliable, consistent 3pt shooter to make up for the absence of Lance Jones hitting them.

Colvin had played in about 50+ games now. He's not seeing anything new.

I'm a lot more comfortable with Cox shooting the 3 (or even Harris now) than I am with Colvin. It's a bad sign when you're surprised when guy hits a shot, which is where were heading with Colvin.

I like the line up of Smith, TKR, Harris, Colvin and Heide in short bursts to see if they can get out an run in transition.

At this stage of you know who's game, I might take Morton back.

That says a lot about your basketball knowledge. I've yet to see a defense sag off of Colvin. With Morton, we were playing 4 on 5.
That dude has never liked Colvin and never will. I have argued countless times with him about Colvin and all he does is nitpick at EVERY little thing Myles does but ignores anything else anyone else does. When called out, he has an excuse why he lets it slide with others.

Myles could average 27 on perfect shooting and be NPOTY while leading the country in rebounding too, but he’d still say something like he needs to rebound more.

You know better than that. I've stated that I want the young man to do well, and surprise even you. He's just not good enough to get it done or he'd be playing in front of two freshmen. Everyone on here knows CMP plays those who deserve to play. Fact or fiction Dwayne?

And Colvin IS playing and playing his role well on defense. Has hit a sophomore slump. You bash every little thing he does wrong but don’t do the same with any other player.

Fact or Fiction Twin?

How quickly we forget that Colvin won the Mississippi game for us with his ability to rebound. When asked to guard the other team's best perimeter player, he is often too far away from the hoop to attack the glass. Heide is usually guarding a 4 or rotating under the basket on D and should get more boards.

I'm not sure what's so bad about being critical of someone's play. Happens all the time and this is the place to do it. No one here has gone over the top and said anything derogatory or personal. We're all Purdue fans - well, most of us anyway - and we want to win. Colvin playing better and hitting some shots will go a long way towards that. What's so wrong with that?

There are those on here (not the majority) that don't like it if there is the least bit of criticism. Player, coach, fans doesn't matter. Everything has to be positive, or they say something about it. Would make for a pretty boring board if they got their way. I'm with you, I haven't seen anyone bashing Colvin in this thread. Except maybe degrees but we all know he has a thing for Colvin already.

You have a valid point but I would ask “what’s so good about being critical of someone’s play”? I’m sure we all are critical at times especially during a game. I do it all the time until I come to my senses. I just don’t see what is accomplished by some hypercritical post about how a player is contributing. I know Matt Painter’s opinion on the subject.

Unless it's someone I've blocked, I don't see anyone being hypercritical. To me, this is a discussion board. We talk about Purdue basketball. Whether that's Braden being awesome, Berg not really being a contributor, TKR's free throw shooting (good or bad), or Colvin struggling from 3. I think it's healthy stuff.
