One cheater down, one to go.

How did Pearl cheat again?
Yea, also, Sampson got busted for Heaven forbid calling recruits during a dead period, now coaches are poaching players from teams and schools are paying kids millions of dollars to go to their schools. Let’s be honest, Sampson’s charges are laughable now and I can’t stand IU. In the meantime Duke gets all star teams to play for them every year because they’re Duke and have all of their games on tv throughout the year. So tired of people thinking they’re so innocent.

Yeahh it’s laughable to call them “cheaters” now lmao.

Duke and KU been cheating for years. Coach K, just like Self, can’t win when the playing field is even. So K had to retire.

Sampson’s teams remind me of Keady’s Purdue teams, they play great defense and really don’t have NBA type of talent. No doubt what Sampson did was wrong, however, I wouldn’t call his charges nowhere near what others have done, he called recruits during a dead period, the crap going on during that time period was teams doing much worse than that. Glad Duke to the L, hope Houston can win it on Monday, think Florida takes it though.

If I had the magic wand, Sampson would never coach another day. He's always been dirty and flaunted it.

Yeah, and all of the idiots will say "oh, what a great coach Sheyer is".

I don't think he will coach much longer. Just always looks miserable and a bit frail now. I think he's around 70? Not sure if he has any health issues, but just looks that way.

He's never quit. He's been a cheat his entire life. Also has the lowest grad rate for years. Hell, Tarkanian had more kids graduate than Pearl ever has. Illini fans hate him, as does USI
Illinois hates him cuz he called a recruit and lied to him to try and get him to go to Illinois when he was an assistant for Iowa, right? But what else has he done?

Yeah, Sampson's cheating scandals look pretty tame by today's standards. It's crazy that he got caught doing the same thing twice at two different schools.

I still think UNC's dummy classes take the cake for NCAA-sanctioned cheating.

Thanks to Florida for sending Auburn packing.

Now it's up to Duke to rid us all of the biggest cheater of all.

Florida star player is the best dude in college basketball. Clutch as a closer.

But like others pointed out....it's open bidding these days. These two were past cheaters. Good coaches.

You do have to consider the rules at the time - violations at one school - agreed to probation and refrain from that - goes to second school and knowingly does the same thing......then the coup de grace - lying and attempting to cover up with the NCAA. And just to make it clear - this wasn't like a "few" impermissible calls - we're talking three figures plus. I get that it pales in comparison to the Wild Wild West of today......

My biggest beef with Pearl is in the same vein - lied to the NCAA when caught. No, doubt, they are exceptional coaches in many aspects of the game, and they have survived well beyond the NCAA sanction days.....it's more historical record now. People will have differing opinions, and that won't change.

And yeah - it frosts many that Self among others had been getting away with shady stuff for years....that's another conversation and in line with the Cleveland State joke.

A few of us way back posted about the North Carolina scandal, which was swept under the rug and now benefits from recency bias and the flawed argument that "Welp, it was more than the athletic department, so we can't do anything about it.......". That should have been dealt with at the accreditation level, and the State of North Carolina caved......big surprise. If the NCAA really wanted at least to show some consistency - they would have gone back and looked at every game where a player was involved that had one of the "illegitimate" classes - and vacated the wins......no way they would have the fortitude to do that over decades.

END RANT.......AGAIN!

I just saw an article about the dark money behind Duke. They are like the Dallas Cowboys... America's team you love to hate.

3 main reasons why I just can't get into the Sampson hate:

1) His violations seem almost comical in the context of today (yeah, I know, the rules were what they were at the time).

2) He wasn't at Indiana long enough for me to work up a good hostility, and that was more than a decade ago.

3) I can appreciate his teams' no-nonsense, hard-hat mentality.

Exactly, no doubt Sampson made mistakes, however, do people not remember the crap going on during that time period? I remember players at Kentucky getting paid thousands doing no show jobs, I’m sure it was more than just Kentucky. That damn Sampson, calling recruits during a dead period, I’m sure he’s not the only Coach that did that. It’s strange, there were many Purdue fans seem to adopt Duke yesterday, screw that school, I like Mason, still not rooting for Duke ever!

So Sampscum is now a saint, and the fact that he did the same shit at Okie Land and Trailer City while on probation from the NCAA makes it okay to break whatever rules we have today. He's a low-life scum who doesn't graduate players (Which I guess is okay in today's world), openly defies punishment and rubs it in the face of the world.

You can love him, admire him, but I will not endorse the festering pile of dog poo in any way. He's always been dirty and my guess, is to this day.

As for yesterday's game, you don't have to support either program.

Does it matter that he did the same thing at two different schools, the last while on probation for infractions at OU? Blatant disregard for ethics.
2) He wasn't at Indiana long enough for me to work up a good hostility, and that was more than a decade ago.
Shouldn't worry about his time at IU. It was fleeting and of his own doing and cost others on his staff their jobs. As it should have.
3) I can appreciate his teams' no-nonsense, hard-hat mentality.
He's still a POS who is in some way still cheating and not graduating his players.

When me and my buddy are golfing we always say what coaches do you like? There are so many with dirt that we really have a hard time coming up with any.

That’s what he was caught doing that they could prove. Guy can coach but he’s no Boy Scout.

I hope Houston craps all over the floor and they and Sampscum gets throat punched by a pissed off ref. And gets blown out by 29
