On Wisconsin

their(iu) schedule will catch up with them and expose them for the average team they are

Don't be mistaken, IU is a good team and we will need to play well in Bloomington to win. Obviously they have had an easy schedule so far and I am counting on the traditional late season meltdown we usually see from Tommy and his boys. But, they are dangerous.

I find myself wanting IU to get knocked down but still do just well enough to make the dance and keep Crean for a couple more years. I'm thinking a slide to 6th in the league would be about right... Maybe 5th given their relatively easy conference schedule.

IU has a hard time stoping teams that take the ball to the basket against them. Happ and Hayes looked like All Americans. We need to Pound it inside against them.

But CTC said it was hard to win with that sort of FT discrepancy, plus some of the IU players were under the weather. He is such a sore loser.

Thomas Bryant got schooled tonight by a redshirt freshman down low. Imagine what Hammons & Haas will do to him. Can't wait for that game.

You have a joke for a coach.

That's your response? lol, I'm not a fan of Crean, I think he's a spastic egomaniac but knocking IU because they lost at Wisky in overtime is pretty ridiculous.

I don't suppose anyone noticed Hayes shot more free throws than the entire IU team? The real indicator will be how they respond after tonights game. Should be interesting.

Hayes shot more free throws because he took it to the basket, and because IU had no one that could defend him.

Best part is...
Next season they will still have Crean but no Yogi, Bryant or Williams.
This is literally their best shot at anything for the foreseeable future.

That was also their best chance at a top 100 road win for the remainder of rhe season. Next up @ Michigan.

Shoot that was thier best shot at any top 100 win the rest of the season. They have zero to date on the road and only one outside of assembly hall and that was in Indy.

They have their work cut out for them.

Bryant will stay. RJ , Hartman , OG , Morgan and transfer Newkirk return along with a solid recruiting class including 6-11 Davis to help inside and Curtis Jones to help the perimeter. Not exactly bare. I would be more worried about Biggie, Davis and Hammons leaving.

Is Williams in that much of a hurry to play in Europe? If not, he'll be back. I would bet that Bryant returns as well. They'll have more than their share of talent next year, but talent has never been their problem. They are consistently one of the most talented teams in the league. They just have a hard time playing to their potential. Recruiting won't ever be an issue at IU, but they need to make sure their next coach can do something with the talent he gets.

Really? Without Yogi that team is horrible
You realize that was a sub .500 team in conference that completely took IU out of their game? Right?.

But,how many will be back after the drug, rape, dui charges after bball season is over. IU just a bad school!!!

IU knows how to lose a close game! Watched it at my place with a good friend that is an IU fan. You can see the Creaning working up, Yogi starts doing crazy takes that make no sense, ugh. Hard to watch. They stood around a lot!

Better to lose a close game than to watch the Boilers get blown out in the 2nd half in my opinion. I think IU can be one of the best teams in the conference but some nights they will really struggle. Its all about matchups for them. I know we have played a harder schedule than IU but that's it we aren't playing better than them. We haven't really won any games in conference that IU can say "wow I wish we could do that"

@ Wisconsin?

I remember Bobby Knight and iu were down to LSU at half time of an NCAA game. In 2nd half they came back and won. After the game Knight said at the post game: "At the start of the 2nd half I looked down to the LSU bench and saw Dale Brown (LSU coach) and I knew we had a chance". That's how most teams should feel about the clapper; he will keep the other team in the game.

You guys never blame officials or coaches.
I am afraid you are making a valid point here. We usually blame:
  1. The officials
  2. Painter's coaching
  3. Player X - who ever some of the posters decide is the weakest link in the team.
We rarely acknowledge that the opponent played a great game and "won" the game. It is usually that we "lost" the game. I was pulling for you guys. Can't stand Wisconsin in any sport. Too bad.

Proudopete you obviously have your head up Petes behind but if you don't see flaws in your own team that's on you. I mean seriously what ranked team have you beat? You guys have lost 3 games and have some tough trips still to take. If you think you are walking into IU and getting an easy win you are blind. The Hoosiers could have easily won that game last night. Open 3's didn't fall and Wisky lived at the line. 3 losses and no Maryland Mich St or IU hmmmmn.

Nice. You built 5 straw men in that mess. Ironically those straw men could probably win as many B1G games as IU without Yogi. Enjoy.

Come on now, you know they all had the flu. They were all tired from finals a month ago. The air conditioning was too loud the night before and they didn't get any sleep. The sun was in their eyes. The refs are against IU because of Bob Knight. It's George Bush's fault.

Point is, it was the same old Two Tone McClappyson....terrible sub pattern, no discipline for bad play, swig and pace strategy (we all knew it would come back)...and once again Yogi proves at the end of a close game, many times he's going to push the limits and take shots and make bad passes that will cost IU the game.

Dan Dakich's best PG in the college game today had 4 turnover's and one assist last night.

Agreed. I am a Purdue fan and I am super glad we have 3 losses in the Big Ten instead of 1 loss like Indiana.

Hopefully Matt and Two Tone McClappyson can hook up over the summer and Matt can impart some of that at-Illinois (and Iowa at home, and at Iowa, and Butler at neutral site) game knowledge on McClappyson.

I know you don't like Dakich and I tend to agree (his college coach was an a-hole...so I will give him a break on that front).

All of that said, onward and upward for Morgan and Darrell!!!

You are a Purdue fan? Right...
I actually prefer our quality wins compared to only having one loss in conference after playing the bottom tier.
One will get an invite to the dance. One will make guys like you with a lack of knowledge, to believe in unicorns.

Yes...I am a Purdue fan. ME '97. JPC since 1999.

I am totally with you. I think having 3 losses in the Big Ten is far superior to having 1 loss in the Big 10. How can one even argue against that?

Long live Morgan!

So you're a Purdue fan with IU season tix in basketball and football?
Talking trash about football when IU lost a bowl game after barely getting .500 is also weak.
You may want to check Purdue's record at both making bowl games and getting wins in the time frame between your last two.

Yes I am a Purdue fan.

That said, I am ashamed of our 2-22 (.091) record in football over the last three years and our three game losing streak to Indiana. I hope Morgan makes a move soon but it doesn't look promising...

Yeah. Once again. I do t buy you are a Purdue fan anymore then your claim to have a masters from Purdue along with the 2 IU degrees you claim to have on Peegs.
But it's nice to see your manager taught you how to use the Internet.

Disbelieve all you want. I lived at Owen Hall and minored in Hospitality and Tourism ('97). My wife was a silver twin.

I hope we can get one more quality loss in basketball soon!

(Morgan, Mitch, and Darrell or bust!!!)

Well since IU has two games against Iowa in the future. I'm sure your wish will come true.

+1

Was watching their game last night with some co-workers who cheer for IU and I made the same comment and they agreed that next year they are going to miss Yogi a ton. He's the straw that stirs the drink there. Without him creating for himself and his teammates their offense really bogs down and there's nobody currently on the roster that can come close to doing what he does. And you know that they aren't going to be able to rely on their defense to pull some games out of the fire so then what?

I'll reserve final judgment until I see the players in their recruiting class play a few games next year but I think they are going to struggle next season.

I hear you. If they lose both (doubtful) they will be tied with Purdue in losses to Iowa.

FYI "ME" stands for "mechanical engineering" not "masters"...I think you incorrectly alluded to such in a prior post.

Let me guess... Purdue grad, IU hoops fan & ND football fan. To bad Purdue didn't teach you loyalty.
