Looks like Francis Okoro was on campus. Blue chipper rated #26. Anyone have any insight on this? I was offline for the last 4 days, so I apologize if this has already been discussed. I know, I know, pay the membership and get the story...

Not holding my breath. Have to think this has a direct correlation to Biggie and other bigs success at Purdue. Purdue is getting blue chippers on campus that it didn't seem like we could in the past. Seal the deal on a higher percentage of them and the talent level continues to rise on Purdue's roster, leading to better success in the NCAA tournament.

While I won't plan to hold my breath- seems like a generally bad idea - I think there has been a paradigm shift in NCAA basketball - perhaps those not previously at play with Purdue due to lack of $$$ will give us more consideration. The quick discounting of 5*s to our program seems more hollow these days.

Has an incredible offer list. Don’t hold your breath...
Really? Oregon, IU ((doesn't everyone), Kansas (OK), Missouri, (they can't have everyone), Illinois (so what?), Va Tech, Vandy, Tenn, NC st. .... hmmmm .... Upon further analysis - we have NO ONE in his position .... YIKES ... and YAY

At his position:
NC state has a 4 star and a 3 star the year ahead of him
Tenn - may have a need, depending on the class ahead of him
Vandy - we'll know more tomorrow and tomorrow
Va Tech - has a HUGE need
Alabama - has two 4 stars ahead of him
Illinois - has a 4 star SR - then NOTHING
PU - has Tre ... then nothing
MIzzou - has a 4 star and no more - depending on the 2018 class
Ore - has a 4 star and a 5 star ahead of him
IU - has two 4 stars and a 3 star ahead of him
Kansas - has a 3 star and two 5 stars ahead of him

We're as close to home as anyone other than IL and Northwestern. We have PT as much as anyone other than Tenn, Vandy, Va Tech, Ill. We have a solid history with guys his size. I say BS.

Can Tre play a 3 in our system? I don't know .... if so .. Daumn

So, I'm bored and not sleepy:
in his frosh year:
1. Eastern (Ramey)
2. Sasha - Hunter
3. Wheeler
4. Tre - OKORO
5. Haarms - Dow

Nice fit IMHO.

Does he have the outside shot to be a small forward / wing? he'd make a great trio with Dow and Tre.

Normal really isn’t that close to Chicago. I would consider it Central IL. Which should be a plus for Purdue, except for it’s less than an hour from Champaign.
Yeah, normal is a sister city to Bloomington. It's where isu is.

Purdue is probably closer than northwestern, considering Chicago traffic

Nigeria. Moved here when he was in 7th grade.

It is interesting to note that current commit, Emmanuel Dowuona, is originally from Ghana, a country about as far away (west) from Nigeria as West Lafayette is from Chicago. Though relations between the two countries have not always been ideal, both countries appear to have been cooperating quite well during the time both Dowuona and Okoro were growing up over there.

So perhaps, Okoro might feel some sort of kinship with someone who grew up not too far from him back in Africa. Add to that the fact that Purdue ranks 3rd in international student population in the U.S., and at the very least, Okoro and Dowuona would not feel as much out of place than at most other schools.

Anything helps, I guess.

He is not a wing. Working on becoming a PF that can face the basket. Maybe more of a 5 right now but love to have our coaches make him the PF he needs to be to play at the next level. He has sounded kind of blah on Illinois, much more positive on Purdue. Love to have the kid form Indiana but sounds like he is IU's to lose.

Third..I didn't know Purdue slipped. used to be number 1 in North America

I keep getting Isaac and Francis confused since 247 says we are interested in Isaac not Francis . Odd that there are two top 30 national recruits with this same last name. 247 has them ranked 27 & 28th.

Oh , I can remember an Asian heading west into the Union T...making the turn and then seeing the light for the northern direction and stopping again... ;)

I worked with an Indian guy who sent his daughter to USC for grad school. He said they had two Indian student clubs. The OTB's for Off The Boat (immigrants or on student visas) and a separate club with an even more hilarious acronym that has unfortunately slipped my mind for first generation Indian American students.

I must say that I have befriended several Indians over the recent years and they have been incredible people. One is a female who earned a masters in robotics and got a job with a highly secure defense contractor and now live/works in Washingon, DC. She has some horrifying stories about a female with middle eastern looks working for a defense contractor in DC .... sad ...

The masseratis, AMGs, and M5s are commonplace ... and they all think the lowly peons around them need to get the F**K out of their way. Talk about privilege ......

What on earth are you even talking about? Asians in general? Purdue students in general? Asians at Purdue? New Yorkers in general?

Let’s not let a thread bragging about the diversity of our Alma mater descend into stereotype jokes. Why would okoro want to go to a school like that?

With the cost of those cars, I'm talking about extreme wealth. Not ethnicity nor location.

I was not aware that all people of this specific wealth level act in such a manner. Do older, less expensive models still qualify, or only the newer versions?

What do you mean? Are there an abundance of those expensive cars there?

Impressive that you recall a general demographic of the driver. Was this a key attribute to highlight the story?

I'm not on here to make you feel good about winning some senseless debate. I've made my point based on what I consider an inordinate number of specific and valid instances. You've made your point based on whatever. Carry on BTFU.

and yes, there are a LOT of very expenisve sports cars in WL. Ferraris, Audi R8s, Nissan GT-Rs. several Maseratis, MANY AMGs, more M5s than you can count.

Remember the kid who killed 4 people and got off because he suffered from affluenza??

If a crime occurred and your were a witness, the cops would ask you to describe the perp. Was she a blonde, was he an asian, was he tall, was she black? .... of course we remember the driver who does stupid stuff ... don't you?

Well, yes since you are going down a Cultural Marxist road with obviously no background. Many, obviously not counting you, are aware that in international studies and through anecdotal evidence..Asians have typically dominated the math areas. Again, I'm assuming you really don't know much in this area and just trying to point an ignorant finger my way although I have no intention of magnifying that error, but rather trying to provide some relevant background that is obviously missing, Math as you may or may not recall requires not only doing the right things, but doing them in the right order. Asians with their general superiority in this subject area forces me to pick between intellectual superiority (which might be construed as racist) and work ethic which is something developed and not born with.

I chose to believe that work ethic is the variable at work here more than IQ for the academic success of Asians in general. Work ethic in math "should" be recognized as requiring a more discipline course study than most other courses available to a student. That discipline *which was ridiculed back in the 80s" by the USA as a means of painting Asians as great followers of rules, but not as creative was spewed as an excuse why the USA wasn't as good in math as the Asian countries. It was to pacify anyone concerned as to why the students in the USA in the Third International Studies and various other comparisons through the years scored poorer than those countries but not to worry ....(drum roll please) because the USA had creative minds and would lead the world as a result. When the Asian did exactly as I stated it was but another example of awareness and discipline to follow the rules to a T. Quite frankly, your accusations magnify your desire to mislabel another without the relevant background in the appropriate domain...which is inherent in the Ed Skool approach handicapping so many today. Bottom line...you missed...

The conversation began with international (then specifically Asian) references. This then strayed into makes and models of cars and wealth. I was attempting to understand the first comments.

I am failing to understand how this talk of math and work ethic relate to the above quotes about broad based "Asian driving". I did not see anything relating to driving nor who is even included or excluded in your Asian category. This basic inquiry seems to have struck some nerve for you.

But, you apparently know more about myself than even I potentially do. You have indirectly answered my question. It has been quite the learning session.

I didnt take the car comment as a slam againsts Asians. Most of the international students I knew were - in addition to being extremely intelligent - from very wealthy families. They only ended up at Purdue because they were either super smart or super wealthy, but often it was both. It seemed like everytime you saw a fancy sports car blasting down Northwestern, it was driven by an international student. The "get out of my way peasants" comment made me chuckle because l remember thinking that when l heard the engine rev on a high end Mercedes or other sports car.
I guess we could make fun of the small weiner trucks that the rednecks drive around to even things out maybe? 30 inch tires compensating for 3 inch slong, etc?
Bottom line is I think you are reading too much into it. And that's coming from someone who is often referred to as a "libtard" by Facebook trolls. Even though I'm pretty moderate, but can't argue with the logic of a guy with a flag or fish in his profile pic, right?
