I know no one wants to call it because it's hard to know which version of this team is going to show up, but log your outlook anyway and feel free to post your rationale. I think this team has a solid chance to make to Indy and from there anything can happen if they're shooting well, but if I were betting I just wouldn't have enough faith on the good version of this team showing up. I have them down for a second round (field of 32) loss to Clemson or McNeese.

I have S16. I just want us to play well.
Completely agree, I'm more concerned with this team playing well than how far they get, although I suspect there's a pretty high degree of correlation between the two.

I think they will win their first game if they play well, even if they don't shoot well. Getting to the SS and certainly beyond, I suspect they will need to both play and shoot well to advance.

I totally think the team has the talent to hang with and beat every team in the bracket. However the 2nd half of game fade has become a glaring consistency over the course of the 3-6 record over the last 9 games. I think some is physical fatigue but more mental. Against michigan I really saw mental lapses more than gap in talent. Guys just stopped playing hard in the 2nd half. Stopped swarming the ball, stopped keeping their eyes on their man etc...
Unfortunately I dont think it gets fixed between now and Thursday. Purdue beats high point but goes down to Clemson.

My heart says Purdue pulls it together and makes a respectable Sweet 16 run.

My gut says this team could very well get Little Rock/North Texas/FDUed in the first round---especially if Purdue can't keep High Point out of the paint.

So, I'll split the difference and go with the chalk: Round of 32.

Edit: I guess my pick isn't chalk. I forget Purdue actually got the 4-seed. This doesn't feel like a 4-seed year to me.

The Purdue team that played Michigan in the BTT loses in rd of 32. The team that throttled Michigan at home and beat Alabama earlier in the year...may just win the whole team thing.

FWIW, Houston has been on an absolute tear. However, I think they're due for an upset against a hot team.

Yeah, I think that's fair, although if they shoot as poorly as they did against UM in the BTT there's no guarantee they make it past the first round.

I am more scared of the 1st game, than I will be of 2nd game. We play like we did against Michigan HP beats us, but I believe we get fixed and lose to Houston in Sweet16

IF...... and it's a big IF ..... Loyer puts his game face on and stops passing up shots, this team can go very far. I think E8 is very possible.
Agree, I said elsewhere that he needs to do a Ryan Cline impression and be ready to fire it up any time he has a decent look.

The defense was bad in game three against Michigan but our shooting was worse. If one of those two comes around against HP I think we're ok, but I share your concern.

Crazy bracket you have there. Worth the price of admission.
Not that crazy - we could lose first round and so could Clemson. Zags can definitely beat Houston. I would say of all the one seeds we wanted Houston way more than the other 3. Tremendous D Obviously but of the 4 if we beat any that’s our best shot - and I have then losing anyway

Fanta, Dauster &Co have Purdue losing to HP per their most recent podcast. Man I hope we prove those guys wrong… but as we all know (as Purdue fans) it is absolutely not off the table. Wish I felt confident that they’re just know-nothing idiots. 😎. C’mon Boilers and bring the energy! They can absolutely make S16 at minimum.

Houston loses to Gonzaga.

I think I saw those two teams have longest s16 streaks….zags to the s16 vs the boilers in Indy!

Gonzaga has got some crazy good odds for an 8 seed. I did have them a 7 for what it's worth.

-6 vs Georgia
50:1 to 'ship (ahead of every 5,6,7 and some 3s and 4s)
+340 S16
+425 E8
+900 FF (T3rd in MW)

Sweet 16. Every year there are upsets! This year Purdue is one of the teams almost every analyst is predicting to lose early. So we will surprise everyone and actually win.

I see no way we get past Clemson. Something major will have to change.
I think it would be a really interesting matchup. To me, Clemson plays like Purdue. Hard-nosed, just basketball players with high IQs. Not athletes running you up and down the court, which is something I think Purdue struggles with. Probably a nip and tuck game for 40 minutes.
