Ok I may have mixed up your semantics because you said "BYU and B12." Going into yesterday it was a near lock for the B12 to have a max of one team, and after yesterday it's even moreso. The really odd thing is, had Army beaten Notre Dame, it would be entirely possible for the B12 to get shut out of the entire thing. Because it's the Top 5 conference champs, not the P4 + 1G5. If Army had won, they would get a huge jump and maybe be 15 or higher this week. Ahead of the collective mess that is the B12. And obviously Boise is already there as #4 in the bracket.
Yeah it's far from decided, and yesterday not only proved that, but it literally changed the entire landscape. I just put together my top 24 (couldn't find a 25th team) and REALLY got stuck after 11.
While possible, I can't see A&M beating Texas AND Georgia in back-to-back weeks, and that's what they'd have to do to get in. I've considered them a fraud since Day 1 when they were hot garbage against ND.
I actually put Clemson #12 this morning. If they beat the Cocks, they might get a slight jump. Only need a little bit more chaos to get in. Or if South Carolina wins, they go to that spot. The stupid thing is that Alabama is not out of consideration with 3 losses because of everything else last night.
Pretty good chance for Georgia? They are in the sec championship. They are all but guaranteed to get in. I’d be shocked if Alabama didn’t get in either.
I put Alabama 13 in my ranking. Just couldn't see anyone else ahead of them. I can't imagine they get in with 3 losses without a SEC CG appearance, but if there's more chaos, who knows? Right now I have 2 ACC teams in - and the committee will too - but will that stick? Will Indinia stay in? I have them 10th, which ends up 11th-seeded. Playing Penn State, which could be fun. I think the SEC is the best conf., but concerning Bama, I would hope that a team w/ 3 losses does not get in
I would hope that a team with 3 losses that is better than a certain team with one loss due to a weak schedule gets in before that certain team - that is, assuming the purpose is to get the best 12 teams in. It is not clear, however, that that is the purpose.
And there-in lies the rub. Are Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama better than Notre Dame, Penn State and Indiana? We think so, but is that a little SEC bias happening? Maybe. I like the system the way it is now because it gets more teams in, and it's much more likely that "the best team" has a chance to play for the title.
To go along with the other bias's, such as that in favor of ND year in and year out, and against western teams because they are not as tv-visible.
If SoS is heavily weighted, those first three are more deserving than the latter three. I haven't followed the actual evaluation system being used.

What do computer rankings show? That takes the bias out.
Sagarin shows old miss, bama, and tennessee as 5, 7, and 9 and ESPN FPI has them 6, 4, and 8. Notre dame is 2 and 3 respectively and I see no way they don’t deserve it. Indiana is 14 and 11. Both would leave indiana out as the 11 doesn’t include 2 AQs (10 is also an AQ). It’s possible A&M is an AQ.
The “first four” will be played at the higher ranked school. And the four byes are based on highest 4 conferences. That means they will likely be played at ND, and the other 3 a combination of B1G and SEC schools, but not indiana. Right now I see some projections as indiana playing at ND. That would be an absolute slaughterfest. I’m not sure who I would cheer for! Would rather see ND lose at home to sec team and indiana lose on road to SEC team (and big ten teams beat Boise state and fourth sec team).
Indiana has their buts saved by Ole Miss losing and Alabama getting more embarrassed than Indiana against a 5-5 Oklahoma team. BYU and Colorado losing were super helpful as well. None of them lose and Indiana would have 100% been on the outside looking in.
And yes, as an IU fan it was disappointing but not a surprise with the performance. I'm happy to be 10-1. Hopefully this helps them moving forward on what it takes to win at the top. It was also comforting to see Alabama only score 3 on Oklahoma.
I have them #6. It'll be interesting to see how the committee drops Alabama and Ole Miss. They dropped Georgia pretty far after their 10-28 loss to Ole Miss and cited the offense for the drop. Bama only puts up 3 sooo... I think Miami and SMU will both be Top 10. I personally have...

I get it but there are humans involved. There will always be bias. Just the same as there's bias that inherently favors a team that loses earlier than another, and thus has more games remaining to rise up the rankings.
If I'm the committee, Baba is toast 100%. Cool you have wins over Georgia, South Carolina and Mizzou but you also have losses to Vandy and Oklahoma in embarrassing fashion. Could Bama beat everyone in the field? Absolutely. Would they be favored? Probably over everyone not named Oregon and Ohio State. But... They lost and to 2 bad teams. They dug their own grave. A close miracle loss to Oklahoma wouldn't have hurt them so much but that butt kicking they took really did them in. Ole Miss has a better shot I think.
