My problem and it is a major one is WHY the official who made the correct traveling call made a point to run basically run from the sideline at mid court to right to the face of Haas to emphatically make his traveling signal...very, very unprofessional!

My hope is Coach Painter reports it to the B1G office, no excuse on earth for that to happen, he should miss he next B1G assignment!

Heck just glad we won...Lots of officials look bad and even obnoxious to me this year. But we are two lucky endings away from 5 losses in the Big Ten.... So count your blessings the way it has turned out.

I thought we were getting the short end of some calls yesterday but kind of wrote it off to me being a Purdue fan. Last night I read the impression of some Wisconsin fans on their board and they had many comments about how the officials were keeping Maryland in the game. No doubt they might have been cheering for us to some degree but it was interesting to see how blatant they felt it was as well.

Winning the game does not excuse his action and it should be corrected!

There were a couple things wrong.

1. It should have been based on when the call was made, not when the travel occurred.
2. They should not have inbounded the ball on the baseline as the travel occurred outside of the 3 point arc.

One thing I will give Dakich after watching the end online again after being there in person - he mentioned both of those things.

dakich also mentioned that the refs werent just doing a good job but a great job. then he would question almost every call and wonder how that was a foul on biggie or haas. the refs stunk pretty bad and we were lucky to come away with a win

As to #2, I'd like to know how they interpret that....I thought the same thing during the Game Thread. However, looking at the replay, IH did have one foot....the infamous "drag" right one...still inside the arc. Do you have to have both? I'm guessing not.

I agree on 1; but giving even the benefit-of-the doubt, it was at most 0.2, which would have meant a tip-play. DD was on top of that.

Was that a sarcastic knock? How about the non reverse of a call at Iowa?

That's how DD stays out of trouble with B1G Office while still telling it like it is -- double talk -- and one has to be smart enough to figure which is true.

Valentine taught him that.

I just asked in another thread about the officiating, as I listened in on the radio. Cliz was howling about bad calls in the 2nd half. How bad was it? Haas was shooting a FT and was made to stop in the middle of it? And more.

Your hunch is correct--sometimes we overthink things because the answer is so obvious. We all know the definition of inside or outside the 3pt line because we apply it to 3pt shooters all the time. If you are touching the court inside or on the 3pt line, you are inside the arc. (Player location is defined in Rule 4, Sect 23 if anyone cares).
