CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Greetings all, and welcome to our official game day thread as Purdue takes on Illinois.
Breaking new first: Markell Jones is not here, having not made the trip over. He, of course, is dealing with the shoulder injury and hadn't practiced during the week. Had been told he was a game-day decision, but obviously it was made ahead of time. Ja'Whaun Bentley is here and will test out his ankle before the game.
Purdue will likely go with Brian Lankford-Johnson as the starter in Jones' place. Obviously, Jones' loss is huge, and to go with a rookie in this spot — when the Boilermakers have had pass-protection issues — is worrisome, to say the least.
The offensive line will be watched. How will Jordan Roos (back) and Matt McCann (ankle) hold up, considering both likely come in at less than 100-percent?
(Will add to this below).
