COLUMBIA, Mo. — It's hot here.

It was hot at 6 a.m.

And we'll see if that plays a factor at all. It could make it difficult for Purdue's defense, having to keep up with the high-tempo offense of the Tigers with it likely to be 88-degrees at kickoff. The Boilermakers don't have much depth - maybe any depth - so we'll see if Jeff Brohm and Co. is willing to go into the second group at all, especially at cornerback. We've not see much of Antonio Blackmon or Kamal Hardy, not at all in significant roles.

But that matchup is the most important one today, and if Purdue has to go to Blackmon and Hardy, can they hold up? We'll see.

A pass rush will help. Purdue didn't come after Ohio a lot last week, but maybe Nick Holt unleashes the Boilermakers today, trying to rattle Drew Lock. The quarterback doesn't complete a high percentage and is capable of bad turnovers. If Purdue can create negative-yardage plays - it's not done so a lot – then it could force Missouri either into long drives or to give the ball away. Both have been a problem for the Tigers, per Gabe DeArmond.

We don't expect to see Markell Jones and T.J. Jallow today, but neither projected starter has played much in the first two weeks. Bearooz Yacoobi is on the travel roster; we had a bit of a question about him.

Guessing that it's David Blough as the starter, but there's been no word. Just like any other of the previous weeks, when it was Elijah Sindelar who got the nod. But if Blough is improved, like last week, he can succeed. But I'd expected Missouri to try to get in his face and force him into bad decisions. He avoided those vs. the Bobcats, but these are Tigers not Bobcats.

Purdue has a chance to get to 2-1. And - as crazy as this is - could win two in a row since pre-Heart of Dallas Bowl days. Man, that seems so crazy. I was the only one to predict Purdue, feeling like the Boilermakers have the edge on the sidelines. Saw Alan called Barry Odom Danny Hope-like, in that he's a good assistant in a head coaching role that he might not be suited. We had talked about that earlier in the week; didn't know he was going to print it. But seems right on to me.
