Occidentophobia

What threat to our safety is that exactly? What do you think is the threat?
My motivation is that my government follows the Constitution and our values. If they can do that AND provide security, awesome...but believe it or not, having some vague fear that somewhere, someone might do something that happens extremely rarely does not equate to actual safety...and it's not "living" in a bubble to not be afraid of terrorism when there are actual things that happen way more often to be afraid of.
why does this issue always devolve into some pointless and stupid argument about being attacked? There are other, much more lucid issues. How about 50% unemployment for the males and 75% for the females in the UK and a cost to germany of 50B euros by the end of 2017? How about the attitude of jerkoffs like Choudary who preach things like "We [Muslims] take the Jizya, which is ours anyway. The normal situation is to take money from the kuffar [non-Muslim]. They give us the money. You work, give us the money, Allahu Akhbar. We take the money." Or let's deal with other social problems we already dealt with.

oh the hell with it. Let's get down to what this is really about. A slow but hostile takeover.

Let's just totally forget that muslims don't respect free people. It's not in their history. They didn't go through the trials and tribulations that brought us to a democracy and a Bill of Rights. They don't respect liberty. They hate women. They hate LBGT. Why the hell do I want to invite people in who are lazy cowards and want to destroy my way of life? Go to muslim country! This is a country for free people, who want to be Americans, not who want to transplant all the crap that made their countries rat holes in the first place. religion is a disease of the mind. ugh the bad air! I can only wonder what Nietzsche would say about these nutters!

So you want to go to war with a tactic and a religion? How does that war end? When will you be able to tell you have won?

Kes, what the hell are you talking about? Did you read the string of comments? The discussion was about controlling the vetting of the 10,000 Syrian refugees that the Pres wants to bring in the the country in this calendar year. War? I'm talking about the need to make sure that we don't inadvertently let into the country people who are radicals that could commit crimes of terrorism, etc.

Per CNN on 3-23-16

"According to U.S. Assistant Attorney General John Carlin, who is responsible for all federal terrorist investigations in the country, there were 60 cases prosecuted in the U.S. in 2015. That is more terrorist cases than in any year since September 11, 2001."

Pew Research reported; In the United States, a 2011 survey found that 86% of Muslims say that such tactics are rarely or never justified. An additional 7% say suicide bombings are sometimes justified and 1% say they are often justified in these circumstances.

8% of US Muslims say that suicide bombings are sometimes justified.

Life in the bubble must be really peaceful. The point of this discussion was simply that for Pres Obama to bring in 10 thousand refugees in one year we better take extra time to vet these people.
you understand terrorism cases aren't attacks right?

How many murders and assaults were prosecuted at all levels in 2015?
Here's a hint, it's a wee bit more than 60.

You point out that, what is it 8% of Muslims, are pro suicide bombings, so you have a tactic and a religion, how far do you go? Is it really only the 10,000, or 800, you're concerned about or is it all Muslims?

What is a proper vetting? Do ask them their view on the tactic, no I would imagine this vetting would look more like a McCarthy hearing.

When does this end? Honest question, I doubt the tactic is going to disappear anytime soon, and it would take generations to convert all Muslims so what's the outcome you're looking for, if not war?

As I said several times in this post: I am in am not in favor of bringing in 10,000 refugees from Syria this year as per the Gov we don't have the resources to process that many. I am not against legal immigration. I put protecting the American people first. By the way. I did not say 8% of Muslims are pro bombings. Pls don't extrapolate. A Pew survey of American Muslim's showed that 8% said there were times when suicide bombings were justufiable. To me that is a very high %.

Qaz, you are truly amazing. Did you notice the comment that it was the highest since 9/11? Really? The easiest way to avoid considering an issue is to deny one exists. Done

There's a quote that says "you're not even wrong."
