wife wants to buy tickets for her and my daughter from the aftermarket for concert in Cincinnati. will end up doing it but what a waste of money. what would you pay theoretically for a ticket to Purdue winning a national championship in basketball or football?

I will say this, Swift plays 43 songs I heard, at least she’s not going thru the motions. I’d pay 1K if it was a National Title hoops game, don’t think I’d go higher, also, the seats would have to be good, no way I’m sitting in nosebleeds watching a TV screen.

Man. I just looked at what those tickets are going for. We bought four of them in the 200 level during the presale for $200 each including fees…

maybe people have different priorities?

to some, paying money to watch a college basketball team is absurdly stupid, so who are we to judge?

I looked up some of her other concerts around the country thinking might make a mini vacation out of it. she is doing 2 and sometimes the same stadium 3 nights in a row. on the aftermarket you are looking at a minimum of 2 grand for horrible seats and up to 10 k for just decent seats. I know who she is but don't really know her music it is just flat ass amazing. when this tour is over will be like one person having 60 stadium concerts at super bowl prices. wasn't around for the Beatles but wouldn't think even they could have demanded those kinds of prices.

It’s truly astonishing. I thought for sure she would add a Sunday night Cincinnati show. Would have sold out in minutes.

And some accused her of charging too much for tickets…when really she left billions on the table…

I would pay $3,000 for a weekend where Purdue was playing in the final 4. $5,000 if they were playing KU (Wife). Weekend would include good seats. Is that even achievable these days?

probably, for something you have never seen in your lifetime I'm surprised you wouldn't pay more than that..

No event is worth those prices TO ME. I would find something better to spend my time and money on.

I'm getting too old I guess....Just the thought of fighting through/with all those people both in parking and at the concert/game is enough to make me tired!! Give me the 65" HD TV and cheap beer at my house every time. No way I would pay that kind of money to see anyone in concert or PU in a FF.

20 years ago I would have done it in a second! So I get why some would now.

My wife and one of my daughters will be at that concert. We live in SC.

The tickets are outrageous, but I went with my wife in Vegas; her dad bought them for her as a present after he sold his business and retired.

Regardless of price or my personal music preferences, I gained a lot of respect for her. Put on a hell of a show, 3+ hours.

If the remaining members of Led Zeppelin toured with Jason Bonham on drums, I'd be willing to pay up to a grand for a good ticket. But, that's the only band I can think of I'd lay out that kind of cash for...hard to believe I saw them for $10 ($20 if you count the t-shirt) at the Chicago Stadium in '77.

That has changed dramatically in five years. My wife and daughter wanted to go back in I think 2018 and of course didn't let me know until two weeks before the concert. Outdoor concert in a huge football stadium. The cost just to get in the door was a few hundred for bad seats but I think I paid something like $400 (definitely less than $500) each for tickets on the field, center stage, probably 20 to 30 yards back from the stage.

You’re a good man Charlie Brown.

Never heard of him. If he's any good, I'd throw in 20 bucks.
speaking of never hearing of him, I came across an artist named Will Hoge while in a record store last week. They were playing his CD called Tiny Little Movies, all 11 songs are great and I'd highly recommend this guy's stuff. I bought it and been playing it every day.

Thanks for the recommendation. I checked it out, and there are some good tracks on that album.

Concert and event tickets are just insane anymore. The absolute stranglehold that the ticket brokers have over venue owners and promoters is killing live entertainment.
Real fans and families are getting priced out. I thought the same when the Bengals were in the Super Bowl. The majority of the season ticket holders who had sat through some really lean years couldn’t afford to go. I’ve thought about this with Purdue too. There was a time that I was committed to being there if they ever made the Final Four. I’m not sure now I could afford it (or at least afford seats that made it worth it). It really is a shame.

I can remember my dad taking me to the NBA All-Star game in the Hoosier Dome 1985. We saw Jordan, Bird, Dr. J, Magic, Kareem among others. There’s no way he could afford that today even if you adjusted his income to today’s equivalent.

Don’t even get me started on what it costs to take a family to Walt Disney World nowadays.

Okay, sorry, old man rant over.
