Bobinski needs to go before Walters

Last time I looked the AD was responsible for generating revenue, and all sports. The last time I looked a University President was to establish academic integrity and generate revenue. Their #1 priority is NOT to build a winning football team at the expense of other academic and athletic priorities

You people need to get it into your head that the world does not revolve around Purdue football. The world and Purdue Univerity are doing just fine without a winning football team.

Our golf and baseball team are doing well. The women’s volleyball team is awesome. Our diving team had several Olympic divers. The track team has improved. The men’s basketball team went to the final 4. The big 10 network has provided increased revenues. All of this success, and you want to fire the AD? BOBO has done an awesome job! The football team sucks but still plays to sold out crowds. What other college can say the same?

As for our university president, I highly doubt football is her #1 priority. She doesn’t bow down to the football team. Rather they should bow down to her. She’s the one who helped negotiate the big 10 network deal, not any football coach. Brohm didn’t negotiate that deal, our AD and President did.

It’s time you people opened your eyes and realized what the purpose of a president and AD are. And that the rest of Purduecand the world doesn’t revolve around or bow down to Purdue football.

The significance of Purdue football and its fans is very minuscule when compared to the overall purpose of this university.

So go buy yourself a PBR and start crying in it. Biitch all you want! Complain and argue all you want. Saban is not the President of Purdue University. Our President is concerned about research and academics. Football at Purdue is an extracurricular activity, not a core essential!
You're an idiot if you don't think having a good football program is an important part of the AD's job.

If bobinski doesn't fire walters this season I 100% agree. I didn't like the walters hire 2 or so years ago, for a myriad of reasons key among them defensive minded coach wouldn't be able to keep good offensive coord in w. Lafayette.

But I don't blame him 100% because the coaching cycle was in the late season. Fickle to wisc. Satt to Cincinnati, brohm to lville. There wasn't any purdue guys left so we took a gamble on a young unproven coordinator. It's fine but there should have been someone helping him hire his coaching staff. Harrell was a red flag 2 years ago as if you asked a wvu fan they wanted his lack of air raid offense out the door.

That said you can gamble but you have to evaluate it after each year and this year by week 6 it was clear we need to cut. If he is trying to save a few million that speaks to his leadership. We can't compare Walter to Hazell firing process as purdue was in flux with dova to mitch and Morgan Burke imminent retirement.
But the Defense is as bad or worse than the offense.......Shouldn't Kane be fired as well, even though he is calling the vaunted CRW Defense the way that CRW is telling him to call..... It's a pretty messy situation to resolve.

I wasn’t aware that our president had undergone a gender change.

This one takes the cake for most insipid and uninformed post of the day…

Our president is a male… just shows how stupid your post is

No one cares about non-revenue sports except the players and their parents. Only a parent of a kid or coach would come here and say what you just said.

Our football program is not taking away from academics at all. We are one of few schools that don’t take money from academics and I don’t think anyone is advocating for it.

Yes their responsibility is to generate revenue and we are losing it with a bad program. It’s a business. Win games and you sell tickets. We are selling our selling cheap tickets many to opposing teams. Look at indiana they are making big bucks right now. Hiring a good coach pays dividends.

They did. Grimes the deputy diversity AD who basically made this hire is straight out of Alabama. If we keep Walters…which it’s looking like we will, it all falls on her.
18, what's keeping Bobo from coming out and giving CRW a vote of confidence??? If we are going to give him a third year, let's get on with it and try to save our recruiting class and add some stability to this rough ride that the program on.
We share the same view of CRW's coaching abilities, but this point, it's Bobo that's allowing CRW walk the plank........

Yeah. At this point anything could happen.

Not a good sign to me when it’s not like this team is a few bad luck plays away from being 4–5 or something. It’s 1-8 and it’s earned that record with ineptitude. Ineptitude only solved by a coaching staff that can instill discipline and fundamentals.

I’d lean to the side that he’s gone if he can’t win 2 of the last 3.

I don’t want to be nasty about them keeping him but if they do keep him past this year it’s clear that there’s more to it than a business or even a football decision. Don’t think there are many football or business reasons to keep the guy around.

Make an exciting coaching hire you likely renew every single season ticket you sold out last year. That helps immensely IMO to justify paying a good coach $6-7mil to come save this beached ship of a program.

Other than getting the no-brainer Brohm hire right, which he ruined by following up with Walters, what has he done besides riding some legacy coaches like Painter and Shondell to some success?

And this new thing about him threatening students for chanting about Walters is really bad. In the same ballpark as the Nancy Cross email about donors. My suggestion to the students would be to chant "Fire Bobinski" instead as I don't believe the AD was included on the list of people the students can't express their disappointment in.

And even if he does fire Walters eventually, is he the guy we really want hiring the new coach? The same guy who oversaw......or should have.....the Walters hire?

Fire Bobinski first.
Totally agree. With the exception of BB & VB, the rest of our programs are going to hell. Especially the WBB. What a joke. Geralds was a legacy but had 0 big time D1 experience. Boy is that showing.

Actually, I'm advocating for taking money from academics to giving it to athletics.
I'm 100% all in on taking money from the billion $ endowment fund and providing resources to the athletic dept.

Probably none of that money is unrestricted. There are legal endowment agreements as to what donated money can be spent on. Especially if it is a big donation, which is usually what makes up these endowments. Like the John Q Smith Professorship in Computer Science.

With the huge amount of money athletics gets from TV and ticket sales there is no way money should flow from the academic side to the athletic side.

This is one of the reasons that NIL is such a disaster as currently regulated. Instead of using the tv money and other direct revenue to pay players, the NIL collectives attempt to fundraise from players he same pool of alumni that the university is seeking to support all of the other programs. I won’t stop contributing to my college in order to pay for football players.

There is no way that should even be legal for publicly funded universities although I think it may be through student activity fees.

That's kinda what I have been thinking. By Bobo not publicly coming to CRW's rescue, and with the comments that he made during the Black&Gold interview, I think CRW is gone with only one win.

If we lose out, and get blown up by iu, there's no defensible reason MBob could give for retaining Walters. None.

The existence of NIL seems all the more reason not to fund athletics through the academic endowment. That would be a disgrace, whether funds went directly to NIL or just to subsidize things athletic donors were otherwise going to pay for and free them up to give that money to NIL. It would just be an indirect way of funding the NIL, and if schools do this, the effect will be a catalyst on the cancerous growth of NIL.

IMHO donors should feel that their money has to be split between athletic donations and NIL, and this should rightfully upset them.

Don’t forget he’s also responsible for making the schedule.

Could be. Her title of Senior Woman Administrator tells me much. I'm sure her experience helping Alabama football players go pro has served Purdue well.

Grimes' focus for the Boilermakers will involve shaping Purdue's departmental strategy and advise staff on the ever-changing landscape of college athletics. She serves on the department's Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) working group to utilize her expertise in the area, including her previous experience with establishing Alabama's Elite Athlete Program, which helped notable student-athletes from the Crimson Tide's 18-time national champion football program transition into the realm of professional sports and encompassed "The Advantage", Alabama's NIL initiative.

TC or anyone else, what is the NIL fund for football worth at PU
