is the count of number of national champions in NCAAF just one?

Just like what happened with the NCAA basketball tournament and the Super Bowl? No one cares how many NFL championships a team has won just the number of Super Bowls.

Only if you're using IU Math!!!

I think after a while it won't matter if you've won a National Championship before the Playoff era because they'll say that you just got lucky that year.

My guess is since this is still not an official NCAA Championship other organizations might still recognize a team not in the four as their National Champion so the NC numbers at some schools could continue to grow but I do agree that as the current process ages some will forget the past as long it is at someone else's school!

It was pointed out that for some years in the past up to four different schools claim to be the National Champion during the same year, and bottom line is who really cares it is all about now and immediate future and very recent past to most!
