Some one needs to take this team over
KS, VE, RD, DM whoever but this team needs one of these guys to be a star and play like it

Ray needs to be our leader like he was last year, JO a little too, but it's obviously only Ray now.

I wish Vince would make more of a step in this direction as he's our apparent leader to be for next year.

Not a great performance but very solid and much improved on offense. RD, JH and even PJ took the ball to the basket and scored or got fouled. When our offense is vertical and not horizontal, we are much more effective. Look inside first, then drive and shot or kick it out. When we pass around the perimeter we are not always effective. Much better shooting as well by a number of guys. Good balance and not one dimensional on offense tonight.

I think that Mathias is playing with more confidence and is becoming an important leader for Purdue. He didn't score much tonight, but he made some big shots and several very good passes.

I think Matt has given Biggie a little too much reign, at times, up until this game. I love Biggie and he WILL be a great player but he seems to either be totally on or a total turn over machine. He has so much talent and when he gets it figured out they all better watch out. With that said he had 4 bad plays in a row in the first half and Matt took him out and we immediately gained more control of the game. He didn't play much in the second half and we seemed to have pretty good focus. We bounced back good and hopefully keep our focus. There were a lot more hustle plays and still could be ramped up even more. Dakota was really hustling on defense and Kline didn't score but his d and passing were good. Turnovers have been killing us and we kept them in check today. AJ was fabulous, Ray played much better, PJ and Johnny were more focused, and we seemed to space the floor much better in the second half. I think this was a critical game for the psyche and chemistry.

I think the coaches made some lineup and role adjustments, and the team took some time getting used to the changes playing against another team, but overall I like what I saw, including...
- Vince being more bold and aggressive driving, despite the early misses. That said, I also thought there were a couple times when he passed and should have taken the the shot. 6'8" studs with space 8' from the hoop do not need to make one more pass; they need to finish.
- Johnny's increased role on offense. I think we were needing more of exactly what he did... Probe, penetrate, score. Nice dunk for the home crowd.
- KS mixing it up with the fake-drive-dunk. I had a feeling of joy for that kid when he did that. If he can do more of that, then teams will have to respect that ability, and he'll get more space to make more 3's.
- Dakota playing with high intensity but also control and poise. Made some shots too. Agree with whoever said he's growing into a leadership role.
- AJ punched in, did his thing, and punched out to ovations.
- PJ played less minutes but held his head up, hit some shots, played good D
- Ray played pretty well... Just played his game. Took what came; executed & defended at a high level.
- Isaac had even fewer minutes I think, but served well when he was in.
- Cline and Biggie had some freshman moments, but neither got down about it. I think the upperclassmen set a good example for these guys. Both are already good and have the potential to be great...

Boiler Up! Let's win some more, one game at a time, and then go to Iowa & get revenge.

This team clearly has the potential to get hot and go on a run. It can be good enough to win at a least four games in March, which is pretty exciting.

I think I expected this team to be a finished product right away but that isn't really ever fair to expect. Can't wait to see if it gets hot enough to win a regular season title or better yet make a Final Four.

Iowa's killer instinct like against Iowa State?

They're an underestimated team with four seniors who clocked us in the second half. It hurt me to watch. That said, I agree with the post who said we are not "a finished product,:" What college team is? Or should be?

Learning is lifelong, especially for players at this age.

For the first 1 1/2 years of his Purdue career, VE doesn't strike me as being a leader on the floor at all. Warranted or not, PJT is more of a leader than VE. Agree with previous post in thread, RayDay needs to keep playing like a senior leader. When he's good, Purdue is really good.

Hitting 11 of 13 3-pt shoots in the second half was not "killer instinct". Nor was it skill. It was really good luck, added to the other two qualities that won that game for them.

I think Carsen Edwards may end up being hat vocal leader Purdue needs. Next year I could see KS stepping a bit to that role as he seems to have the swagger that's needed but Edwards just seems to ooze confidence when on the court. If Edwards was at Purdue this season, they would easily be considered as one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the country.

So you're 7/10 threes in the first half was luck too, right? We pressed you guys and you folded like a cheap suit. That was skill and tenacity.

don't care about vocal leaders. just do it on the floor. oh wait, that would mean the coach would have to leave you out there for 30-35 minutes
