you mean they keep creeping closer to playing an average game for that talent they have...I can't stand either team either but we won't roll over IU like some have thought. They're getting better each game.

I know this is hyperbole and to get a reaction, because an astute IU fan if she were to appear would never suggest such a thing. IU can beat Purdue at IU, but would NEVER beat Purdue on ANY other court. Purdue would win everyplace else like that have for over 100 years against IU. That said...given the Hall of Calls and the place where fans jump out on the court to guard the Purdue players, this game "might" be close and Bloomington with all the variables outside of basketball play by the players and coaches will be a "slight" dog in this event. You people are idiots . Ugly game to watch ? Gibbs for ND is a slug ? IU will beat Purdue this year , and I can't wait to watch the meltdown on here afterwords . did you see your attendance for your game ?? Empty . More IU fans than anyone . IU is the only reason the Crossroads Classic is an event . All your sorry schools get benefited from IU being in it . Take IU out of this event and the game will be on sister channels , not national TV . You all should thank IU for giving you recognition .
Archie eats painters coaching for breakfast . Tell painter to bring a notebook and paper to take notes on how to coach when you all get dominated in Bloomington .

Ah, life on this message board imitates real life, our Boiler existence is enriched and validated simply from being privileged to visit and co exist with someone, anyone, associated with IU basketball. LolUmm, you played against a team in ND that ranks 125th in defensive efficiency. Duke was 124th. This helps explain IU's and Morgan's success against these teams.
You won't see as much opportunity against Purdue and Mich State. Purdue is 20th and Mich State is 11th in defensive efficiency.
I know you're a troll. But deep down you recognize Purdue, ND, and Butler are the main reasons the tourney is being held. IU basketball has been irrelevant since Knight left.
that was a horribly painful game to watch. From the start, neither team looked fundamentally sound. Family was visiting, and I turned to one and asked what they heck we were watching. From the portions of the game I watched, ND has no inside game, just Colson and Farrel and a bunch of slugs. A really ugly game to watch.

Purdue has no athletes as usualLol, iu sucks. Purdue by 10.Not a chance in Assembly Hall

IU was 7-5 going into the big ten season in 2001-2002....that ended wellWe are in the presence of greatness, burbo!
Who knew, Archie has been playing all of CBB for fools. That 5-5 record going into yesterday? A ruse! And ND fell for it! Chumps!
Archie: HAHAHAHAHAHA! *rubbing hands together*

If you are going to try to give a smarta$$ answer, be prepared to be laughed at if it fails.
And to your credit...Just a hunch, but I have a feeling there's more to the story we don't know, some I'm willing to cut some slack.

I don't wanna start an argument.I like posting over hjere, because for the most part, you guys are pretty decent. But c'mon, man. Miller is Crean 2.0? There is no way you believe that. Crean would have lost to Duke by 40 with this roster....25+ to UL, and probably 20+ today. There is a huge difference. I mean huge. Right now Miller is dealing with a flawed roster, and with guys who've been under the trance of Crean. Not to mention the learning of new offensive and defensive schemes. Our offense actually looks lije an offense, and not a 30 car pile up on 65 North. We just lack shooters. Defensively the difference is night and day. The stats don't show this. But the eyes do. Fundamentally, this team is so, so much better. Our buggest issue is rotating over on shooters; Which we didn't do to bad with yesterday. After being forced to watch it at a local bar because that is all they would put on, iu's new coach is crean 2.0 and both teams are not that good.
I mean .. wow... not good.
Just quit with the "House of Calls". Dude every team gets the benefot of a call or two or three at home; Yes, even at Mackey.Juwan Morgan will never do this against Purdue. He played the game of his life against a toothless ND defense. It had to go to OT due to a choke job by ND. It will be a dog fight though with a road game in the B1G. If we don't get screwed on calls, it will be a beat down at the end and we can keep these bozos off of here.
.To say Morgan will never do this against Purdue is a bit premature. I think he will be a tough match for Purdue as I look for Miller to do what he did versus Duke, UL and ND. Pull the bigs out, and force them to guard Morgan on the perimeter. I like Haas and Haarms. But not sure they ahve the ability to defend Juwan off the dribble.

Miller is no nonsense. Whereas Crean was a coddler. And hell we even have OOB plays. And they work!!
I understand the dislike between the two schools. But in no way shape or form is Miller, Crean 2.0
it's not just the Hall of Calls, but the fans that jump out and try to guard the Purdue players as wellBrother, back when he was hired we were all treated to how awesome Tom Crean was going to be. D-Wade; Final Four; blahblahblah.
Until he demonstrates otherwise, Archie is just another Mike Davis/Kelvin Sanctions/Tom Crean, but from a different school.
I'll give credit where credit is due: IU beat a team who showed incredible weaknesses, had recently lost games to teams they shouldn't have, but they battled and found a way to win. It was ND. ND is incredibly flawed right now. But, a win, nonetheless. Against Butler IU gets abused. Again.
I'm not looking forward to Purdue vs IU in the Hall of Calls (and, yes, IU has a reputation of getting a HUGE advantage from the officials). I think that will be IU's chance to salvage a season. They'll save their best game for Purdue. But, I also think IU's roster is loaded with talent, Archie just hasn't had enough time to figure out how to put the pieces together.
No doubt we will have to hit shots. Morgan is going to be a tough guard. Edwards is a terrific athlete, but not sure he's the guy you want protectin the rim vs Morgan..
Colson is a beast but ND had no rim protectors. Edwards even had 3 blocks yesterday. You will need to hit from 3 to prevent us from collapsing on him. I can see him getting more second chance points from offensive rebounds (which has killed us) than driving. Davis with his size worries me and he seemed to disappear this game.
Not from me. Was a critical of his hire from Day 1.Brother, back when he was hired we were all treated to how awesome Tom Crean was going to be. D-Wade; Final Four; blahblahblah.

not having a chance to see IU much yet and already understanding you and I have a different view of blocking out...riddle me this. Not from me. Was a critical of his hire from Day 1.
Anyways....Your last sentence tells the stroy: Miller just hasn't had the time. We are 11 games in. And TBH, I'm happy with where this team is headed. We have improved a lot from Day 1.
Loaded with talent? Not really. We have a suspect PG. An average PG. Morgan and Davis are very good. Justin Smith can be. But he's just a freshman. Johnson has been a huuuuge disappointment. Talent is there, though.
I doubt IU gets abused by Butler. They would have had no answer for Morgan OR Davis.
Notre Dame's not a bad team. Just hasn't played well of late. A win is a win.
IU gets no more calls at home than anyone else. If they do, someone forget to tell that to the officials who worked the Duke game. After IU took a 63-59 lead, rhe Hoosiers were called for 8 straight fouls. If that's getting home cooking, I think we need to hire a new chef.
Saving our best for Purdue? C;mon, man. Indiana/Purdue is a battle. Both will play with an extra hop in their step.
IU cannot shoot. They are shooting 32% from three. Coming off the UL game where they shot 0-12 in the 2nd half from three; 5-24 overall. It's been IU's downfall all year.not having a chance to see IU much yet and already understanding you and I have a different view of blocking out...riddle me this.
If IU cannot shoot and I'm not saying they can or can't ...why would any coach allow Morgan to dribble the ball from 15 feet for four or so dribbles. If IU does NOT space the floor by being a threat..why can't the perimeter defenders drop down on Morgans dribble? What keeps teh perimeter defenders on the perimeter if there is no threat? I'm guessing other coaches must think (maybe wrongly?) that IU can't shoot to allow a four to dribble that much. FWIW you could see teh talent in MOrgan when he was a freshman and played against Purdue

I don't even know where the video is at this time. perhaps I'll find it in a minute. Until then I understand you to say Johnson(5/10 ) ends up on weakside away from the ball and a person is guarding Morgan and three other people fron ND are what hugging their man while it has been a MORGAN show? I'll catch the video, but that too seems like a brain fart by ND if IU only has one shooter and he is away from the action...what did the other three do that were not needed to contest Johnson and also not guarding Morgan. I'll see if I can find the video to see if I understand you correctly. I would think that the shooter would be on strong side so that the shooter does not allow his defender to help, but maybe I'm not understanding what you are saying. I need to see the video to see what you are saying.IU cannot shoot. They are shooting 32% from three. Coming off the UL game where they shot 0-12 in the 2nd half from three; 5-24 overall. Watch the final play(in OT). Morgan receives the ball at the 3-point line. Offense clears the lane, pulling the defense with them. Archie puts Johnson on the opposite wing. He had hit 5-10 three's, so ND had to respect that. So that left Morgan in a one on one drive vs Colson. The exact match-up Miller wanted; same play that was ran at the end of regulation. The play was misdirection. It opened up the lane. Johsnon;s defender stayed with him. Farrel came over to help. To late.
A well designed play that had Johnson's defender helped, the option for a kick out was there. He did not.
No one allowed Morgan to dribble that much. He can handle the ball well. If anything, Brey should've doubled Morgan on the catch,. He didn't, and Morgan made them pay for it.
Well I found it and yes ND guarded what ended up being the strong side Johnson and ND was not going to help off of him although the defender should not be standing as he did, but should be more sideways to see Johnson and be able to help on Morgan and recover to Johnson as needed. Fundamental error on 0 for ND However, the key to the play was number 11 for IU who ran what was an illegal screen or brush on Colson that allowed Morgan to get once again to his right hand and drive the ball, but would never be called and as are many illegal screens that can be employed by the offense without looking like an illegal screen (I mean an offensive player has a certain right to move as well)...and no doubt was told to do exactly that to free Morgan at roughly 34 seconds. THAT is not to sugest the refs should call something, because they should NOT call an illegal screen the way it was ran. What you will notice here is another defensive fundamental error by player 10 for ND. All coaches I assume still teach to step to the ball on defense. When you step to the ball, you prevent a return pass for a give and go and get in the way of the passer heading to the ball. You will notice number 10 for ND did nothing and rather than doubling Morgan and leaving the non-shooter you mentioned or at least bought time for Colson to recover by a quick double, he slipped behind the brushed Colson and did nothing defensively. I mean he left the player that has scored everything in the final seconds to guard a player that you say is no threat to shoot. I mean if you are not worried about shooters like number 11 and only Johnson...why do you not double ..at least a quick double on MOrgan when you are five feet away from the guy that never headed to the bucket, but headed to brush Colson. If number 10 for ND steps to the ball, the brush on Colson doesn't happen...maybe Morgan hits a jumper...maybe without the brush colson allows him to once again go with with right hand...I don't know. Brey cannot be happy with the D at the end as well as the FT line work.IU cannot shoot. They are shooting 32% from three. Coming off the UL game where they shot 0-12 in the 2nd half from three; 5-24 overall. It's been IU's downfall all year.

I don't know if it was intentional but the mispelling in the thread title tickled me to death...Norte Dame versus IU....
...Gosh how I hate pulling for the damn Irish...
