The loss sucked sure.. but no time to dwell on it with Michigan coming up in a couple days. Hopefully the loss will be a valuable learning experience and there is a huge fire on the team and we roll UM by 20.

UM is a good team and may give us some fits.. Purdue is more than capable at beating them by a truckload and also losing.. that is what happens when you're reloading.... But.. I think we win comfortably by 10+ as the team plays focused the entire game.

We need to get our shooting back from 3 and incorporate into the offense. Harris is showing he should be sixth man off the bench for the backcourt (yep I said it finally @TwinDegrees2 ). He’s looking confident with his shot, puts pressure on the defense by driving to the hoop, and playing defense well. Colvin and Heide still should get their mins but we need them to produce 8-12 ppg and 4-8 rebounds per game (combined) for us to be really dangerous.

Ohio state woke us back up last year and hope this does the same. The 3 Pete will be tougher now, but still not impossible. If the boys can put together another 7 game win streak, theyll be in good shape.

Eager to see how they bounce back against a really good Michigan team after their first loss in 2025.

I fear that they are exhausted from the west coast trip and only having 2 days in between these games is gonna make it worse. It’s time for the big 3 to step up and push the rest of the team to produce. It’s also time for Smith to get everyone involved on offense.

Yeah for sure. Smith has struggled with his shot the last 3 games…hope he finds it vs Michigan and then a week off until IU. Also, that second foul early in first half was uncharacteristic of him…maybe some fatigue from travel.

Harris and cox seem to be emerging and we need them to be consistent outside of Marley as well when we need points.

Defense overall was fine, Parrish got hot and hit those 3s…the breakdown of letting Thornton get two wide open 3s (one at end of first half and one to start the second) was the a defensive breakdown—I guess it was more so the one to end the half when Myles helped off. Harris either tripped or shoes was stepped on to start the second half.

Three things happen and typically no team doesn’t have let downs. You just hope they aren’t during the tournament. Hope they get some rest and get ready for a big one on Friday.

need more 3's. didn't make many last night and only made 5 in the 2 west coast games. The team has been getting by beating mostly the bottom feeders by only playing one good half and it caught up to them last night along w/ playing an athletic team ( achilles heel for us ). We also gave up 2 big runs, usually you have to survive one big run.

Two superior athletic teams coming up. They struggle getting good shots at times with these type of teams.

They need to hit some threes early.

Smith definitely looked exhausted, but was making some uncharacteristic errors as well. We just don't have the ZE option where it's a guaranteed player output.

He has the ability to maintain the pace of the game. When he's focused on that.....we win.

The next two games will be very telling. This loss was disappointing but if you'd told me heading into the January 2nd Minnesota game that we'd be 6-1 or even 5-2 over the next seven games, I'd have taken it and been happy.

The key will be whether this team can respond Friday and keep a tough loss from turning into a losing streak.

Michigan’s strength is their front court and their back court has struggled.

IU is all over the place. Talent is there to be very good but coaching has made that talent look lost and bad.

We need to shoot more than 9 3s though. If we don’t, puts a lot of pressure on making a high % of them on low volume. If you don’t, then it’s difficult to win when the other team is making a lot of them (this has been IUs struggle during Woody and was our struggle last night).

I couldn't agree more. It looked to me like when they arrived in Washington that they were already tired. How many shots hit the front of the rim there? Oregon was better but after those 2 tough games we returned even more worn out. Playing anybody on a regular basis on the west coast is a bad idea.

Or if they are going to do it, spread it out a week.. We have a week break between UM and Indinia (I think) .. that would be a good rotation for going out west. Both on fridays no less.

Yeah don’t understand why the quick turnaround for the west coast games but now there’s a week gap between Michigan and IU? IU has a lot of days off between the game before they come to Mackey.

Scheduling is weird haha

They had lapses , but the D wasn’t that bad. They allowed a streak shooter to “get his head up” and then he was just stepping back and firing away. Surprised after the first four threes Purdue didn’t double him, at least a soft double. They also forced OSU to use the full shot clock 4 times and they hit four buzzer beating threes. One of those nights. Started in the first half when a well guarded awkward shot for two banked in.

Very good points on them hitting 4 or 5 shot clock buzzer beaters. Like you said, one of those nights and gotta move on and get ready for the twin towers that has one who is a point center.

Yes - or........play Ohio State as the second game of the three home games NEXT week......wouldn't the compression be more logical when no travel involved?

But, wait a minute, what am I thinking - looking for logic.......we know what drives thi$$$$.......and that's part of the price all these schools pay in exchange for what has become a multi-billion dollar business enterprise.
