Newest Boilermaker fan.

Hello and greetings from coastal South Carolina.

I am a life long University of South Carolina fan and an alumni. After lobbying, begging and pleading for my daughter to complete her education at Carolina she has chosen, instead, to attend Purdue.

I am now the newest Purdue fan and preparing for the start of the season. Don't get me wrong, I am still attending Gamecock football this season and continuing to be an SEC homer but now, I am focusing also on Purdue and the Big 10. We will be visiting West Lafayette in November and I am really hoping we can get tickets to one of the games, either against Illinois or Indiana.

I hope the team has a great year...

I am just so excited about the start of the season!

Welcome to Boilermaker Nation! I think this years team will bring a lot of excitement and a winning team. I hope you enjoy!

Welcome, what brings your daughter to Purdue? Hopefully we have a good season and you will enjoy the Illinois or IU game. Bring a van full:)

Hello, and thanks for the welcome!

My daughter recently finished an internship at Disney and wants to study video graphic or design. She will be majoring in video communications design at Purdue.

According to her, Purdue has the best program for that.

Hoping to get tickets? No need to hope just walk up to the ticket office on gameday and buy one.

The Indiana game should be a good one. Purdue just lost to Indiana in back-to-back years for the first time in more than two decades. We haven't lost three in a row to IU since the 1940s, so expect pride to be on the line if nothing else.

The rest of the season, who knows. I want to be optimistic, but the current coaching staff has won only four games in two seasons, and half of those came against FCS outfits. We've won only one B1G game in two years and none at home.

We have some talent and experience on the offensive line, among the linebackers, and in the secondary. We're still looking for a quarterback to emerge, and the running backs will be new. There are big bodies at WR, but they have to show more consistency.

For comparison sake, I'd say we're in Brad Scott territory right now. Unfortunately, we don't have Lou Holtz on the horizon.

Welcome aboard, though!

Sabot252, basketball season is when the fun really begins for Purdue. Purdue should have a great team this season. They just landed a very good recruit as well as bringing back the majority of last years team. You will have to attend a game or two.

Two quick observations. Myrtle Beach is nice, was just there late April. Retired bball Coach Gen Keady now resides there. Welcome!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes to Boilermaker Nation!

rgarlitz, I really appreciate that comparison. The Fat Brad era was littered with minor bright spots but ultimately Fat Brad just didn't care...stand around the sidelines, watch the game, then go collect his paycheck. His last season with us we went 1- 11. Just 2 years later, under Holtz we went 0- 12, but that was the last time that happened. Even 0 and 12 though, we packed the stadium. It has been a very slow process but it is paying off now...with the exception of the screwed up last season...that was all coaching. When Clemson fielded a one legged quarterback and the Gamecock defense only blitzed 3 times the entire game...that's coaching but HBC fixed that I think. I am really excited to watch the Boilermakers building a consistent football team. It's always glorious.

summy1, having had to suffer all manner of screwed up basketball teams at Carolina, I am really stoked to go see some real college basketball that is not ACC. I really think our Coach Frank Martin will get things turned around so our team isn't used to wipe up the sweat under the boards by Arkansas and Florida (Note I don't mention Kentucky...we really hate them) but we are still a few years away from competing for the SEC.

threeeputtt, with a handle like that, I can't imagine what you did while in Myrtle Beach...
I am glad you had a good time here. When Purdue goes to the Capital One Bowl in January to play LSU I hope you get to stop in on your way down to Florida to see the Boilermakers play. Unfortunately, I do not have the horsepower to get half off greens fees but MB in January can still be fun.

Thanks again, everyone...my daughter clearly picked the right school.

Real quick...Where was O.J. headed in the white Bronco?
Clemson, South Carolina.
He knew that the police would never look there for a Heisman Trophy winner .

Thats a good one.Over the last 50 years,Purdue has had a lot of guys in the Heisman trophy race, but no winners. Was George Rogers a Gamecock RB who won the Heisman in 1980?
