Are they new? I don't remember them but I really like the charcoal dark gray color. Makes them feel a little more modern. Helmets are great today too.

the helmets look great?
I'm w/ you, our colors are gold/black, incorporate the colors in the uni.Uniform is terrible. Our colors are black and gold not grey and white. Needs more gold (the numbers, with black outline). Helmet looks great for military appreciation day.

These unis with the matte black helmet and you have the best looking unis we've had maybe ever. Are they new? I don't remember them but I really like the charcoal dark gray color. Makes them feel a little more modern. Helmets are great today too.
These uniforms are an embarrassment. Look like they were picked up from a GoodWill store. Helmets were well intentioned but poorly designed as though they came out of a HS project thrown together this am. Note to AD and HC: our colors are Old Gold and Black. Find a firm that understands colors. Check Vandy, GT, NO Saints, and, gasp, pre 2008 Boilers for ideas on how to display them! Are they new? Does anyone know why the athletic department decided to change the shade of gold from old gold to "Vegas gold" or whatever it is called? If memory serves the change seemed to happen in late '96/early '97. I just don't understand the rationale.
Old gold is a unique shade but the colors put out by Nike and the athletic department do nothing to distinguish Purdue from Wake Forest or Vanderbilt.
Purdue is the only school with the nickname Boilermakers and one of the few with old gold as a color. It would be nice to see it on the fields and courts.
I agree! And there is something to be said for consistency in "look and feel" (think of the consistent look and feel of the Mac OS), for colors, uniforms, logos and the like. be consistent and not just the young like it, but people identify with is for one generation to the next.As a retired veteran, I appreciate the effort. But in over 60 years of watching Purdue football, these are by far the worst uniform representation I've ever seen for our university. This is whar you get when uniform drcisions are made by 26 year old marjeting chicks in Portland
Shahid is a cool guy. He's all about fashion and mixing things up.Gold and Black! Period! It is the best color combo in the world! Even my Jacksonville Jaguars have borrowed and the team is owned by Illinois grad Shad Khan!
I love this thread. Why do I love it? Because it helps to show which posters are old men that are out of touch with reality and which posters aren't. Guess what people: today's uniforms' aren't for you. The athletic department couldn't care less if you like them or not. The players love them and the recruits love them, and that's all that matters. The uniforms looked awesome anyways.
Drew Brees is old?Yes, the on field performance certainly reflects the effect our "modern" approach has had on recruiting. Before you throw all of yhe old guys under the bus, you probably should look at who used to write all the checks
Yes those awesome hip unis favored by the young geezers have gotten us 5 wins in the last 26 games. Guess that's "all that matters". That would be "losing". Congrats.I love this thread. Not to diminish your years of experience but...5 wins and 21 losses with the new and improved uniforms. If that ms what your generation considers acceptable, enjoy it.This response is why I used the phrase "out of touch with reality". Do you remember about 5 years ago when Eastern Michigan came on our field and looked better than us (uniform wise)? There were a few years Burke absolutely refused to get alternate uniforms for the football team. Remember how bad our recruits were those years? That lead to the abysmal teams of the past two seasons. Then we started doing alternate uniforms like the ones we saw today, and now our recruits now consist of guys like DJ Knox and Bentley. Obviously I'm not saying the uniforms are the reasons for wins and losses, but if you refuse to see how the alternate uniforms have helped with recruiting the past few seasons you're an old man that is out of touch with reality. Just like Morgan Burke.
Let me put it this way so even a young chucklehead smart guy like CasualPoster can understand: alternate unis don't mean more wins. Period. case in point: our own Boilers.Alright, normally I wouldn't reply to your post because it is so stupid, so dumb that it would have to be what us young people call "bait". Bait is what an internet troll says to cause a stir because he knows its so incredibly stupid that people wont be able to help themselves and respond to him/her. I know you aren't a troll because, frankly, you're old. So let me make this incredibly clear so even the people who barely know how to comprehend a sentence, like pu1985, can understand:
New/Alternate uniforms = Better recruiting and happier current players
New/Alternate uniforms =/= Wins
Just in case, =/= means "does not equal"
Today's college football landscape doesn't make alternate uniforms an option, it makes them necessity to keep up. I don't understand how some people don't understand this yet, but apparently some still don't.

The black-on-black "Boilermakers" on the back is very high schoolesque. Hope we do not see these jerseys ever again.
