Is this the new starting five going forward? Haas will still get his 20-25mpg, but it's too much of a liability defensively to have him with Biggie, and clogs the paint because Haas needs to be inside, so there is no room for Biggie to work the post. Have them play at times together, maybe 5-8mpg, but otherwise, they need to split the 5, IMO.

Haas, Cline, and Smotherman will be the key reserves?

And what about next game when Vince has a bad game and Haas has 20 off the bench? Do you want to change it to whoever is the hot 5 from the last game? Does it even matter much?

There will be a good many games that the refs will call closely. The strategy of whack-Haas will fail and he will dominate. Other games where he is slapped silly or where he must go against a very athletic center, then we will need to change up our line-up. The good thing is that makes us a nightmare to prepare for. By all means, keep Haas in the starting line up, but be ready to throw out a different line up at the drop of a hat. This is an extremely effective strategy.

I doubt it. We will continue to start Haas and Swanigan together in an effort to soften up the D. Even with coming off the bench the last few games, Vince is still third on the team in Minutes at 28 per game.

If it ain't broke...
if matt changes it is usually due top a loss. Nothing will surprise me tonight...it will be Matt's feel for his players...

It should be, but we'll see.

It's been clear for a while now that Purdue is a better team with only one of Biggie or Haas on the floor, along with Vince at his natural 4 position.

As a very famous someones once upon a time said, "It's not who starts that matters, it's who's on the floor at the end."

Notre Dame did present some unique match-up challenges....so there's that. I expect IH will continue to start for now, but I look for CMP to go small more often during games. IH is still a big piece of the team.....and he keeps some pressure off of CS. I think also, you might see some different strategies for IH defensively going forward......just a guess.

Whatever ends up, the chemistry of this team looks very good to me...and players are sacrificing for the good of the team...that really helps CMP going forward if he wants to make some further adjustments. I don't know if he has had this much flexibility with line-ups, and that's still with JT sidelined.

But as D3 points out.....it's all about getting the five that work best at the end of the game...hopefully with the opportunity to finish off a victory.

My only problem with the whole Haas playing a ton of minutes with Biggie is, can we afford to keep digging ourselves out of the hole like we have been? Having 2 dominant players around the rim is great at times, but at the same time, having 2 horrible perimeter defenders can really put this team in a hole we won't climb out of 9/10 times, and all it takes is 3-4 minutes to go from a tie game, to a 15 point deficit when a team gets hot.

I'm not a Haas hater, I'm not saying anything bad. But both players are dominant down low, and they will basically dominate anyone in the BT who defends them in the post. But based on the entire season and watching them play together against good competition, we seem to be stagnant offensively. I think the team is more comfortable with one at a time, and may finally have convinced CMP to execute that strategy more often than not.

If you start them both, fine, for the first 3-4 minutes, feed the post, see what happens. After that, start alternating them at 3-4 minutes a clip, keeping them fresh, and keeping the defense off balance a little. It also gets our wings/guards into the pace of the game a little more instead of just passing down low, and allows VE to work down low a little more.

No need to change things in the starting lineup over one game and TC states. Vince is playing much better in this role off the bench and it is allowing CE to get himself infused in to the game in a way that no other player can. No reason to take the one glaring advantage Purdue has over every other opponent on the schedule away.

I think not but the amount of time we see that new lineup will increase in the right matchup situation.
