There are a lot of new rule changes this season:

The 30 second shot clock has received a lot of attention, but the wider charge/block circle might be more significant. The freedom of movement rules are dependent on ref interpretation, so it is hard to say what impact they will have. I think that Purdue will be helped if post play is truly cleaned up. Hopefully, Purdue's bigs have improved their free throw shooting.

So, do you think the rule changes help or hurt Purdue? It should be interesting to see.

I think the shot clock change will enable them to play tougher defense for the shorter amount of time. I think that rule helps Purdue. I'm not familiar enough with the rest of the rules to comment.

I think rule changes always hurt. As Painter said those who have officiated for 30 years aren't going to radically change the way they call the game, particularly by March. New guys will want to get everything perfect. This will result in what drives me the most crazy and that's uneven officiating no only between crews but also among a particular crew.

The rule change will hurt us on offense because for some reason, we are always slow to get into the offense. On defense, it will help us. Teams are going to have a hard time getting shots off against our length & now have 5 less seconds to do so. Overall, with CS now in the mix, I think it will benefit Purdue.

No, not in the Big Ten?

As an aside, what are the odds on who gets the first "T" this year. I'd say it's even money on Fran, maybe Groce next. CMP is probably down the list.

More importantly who should get a T but would have to drop a deuce on the Thanksgiving table to get one.

Izzo, Matta and Vlad the Impaler come to mind as guys who just can't seem to get a T.

I do agree that Fran or Tim Miles will likely get the first one in conference.
