Can we do away with the conference tourneys already? Alright, NC St. played their way in; fortunately, Brown and Temple couldn't pull it off.
Concerned about the lost revenue? Take a page out of the far superior IHSAA and let in everyone. Blind draw according to geography. Make the regular season matter again. And if, say, Purdue were to draw Illinois, so be it. Top 10 matchups always happen in Indiana.

Second, unrelated point. Dispense with the "student-athlete" business. How many elite male athletes from revenue earning sports are up to the rigors of a college curriculum? Make it legit play for pay. And if, say, a Brian Waddell wants to get a real, lifelong earning education, have him accept the scholie for education, instead of cash. Yes, give the student a choice, tuition money in pocket or toward a legit education. Cap the tuition allowance so the private schools don't have that advantage. Why pretend any longer. Being a college student is a full time job. In our age, being a football/basketball member may be even more.
