New Commit

He was invited to the Blue-Grey All American football game later this month in Texas.

Just read on the main page that Brohm visited him at Carmel High School. Like we have said, its about time a Purdue head coach visits Indiana High Schools.

Agreed. Carmel HC played football at Purdue so that should be a relationship we cash in on for future recruits.

Carmel H.S. use to be a pipeline of recruits for Purdue......But then they and other Indiana H.S. Football programs stopped producing athletes.and Blah blah blah ...blah blah..

Not exactly the name of a DB I was expecting to see as Brohm's first recruit. I kind of had my sites / hopes set on Potts or Jallow. Carmel is a good school and he started, so he must be better than the scouting services know about.

Lol you serious? Carmel and other Indy schools still pump out quite a bit of talent.

Still have a few guys from Indy who they will probably go after. Also, some from Cincy. Got to nab the local guys up.

Nobody thought it was a dead week. although I had hoped and believed Brohm would have announced the signings of a different DB. With the limited amount of scholarships Brohm has left to give out, I hoped his first recruits would be a little higher ranked i.e. 4 * DB Potts. At this point, I can't see Brohm finding room for Jallow and Potts. These three commitments today were the type to make if you had scholarships left to give on signing day.

I too wondered if they would go after Potts from Fishers? He should be on the radar.

What I meant by dead week is CJB cannot talk to recruits so I figured we would be hearing more announcements about staff than recruits. I'm just glad he's been working harder in the 10 days he's been at Purdue than it seemed previous regime did all year.

Brohm has plenty of room. Besides, Mitch West, IL DB is no longer committed and his scholly probably goes to Abrams.

The JUCO OL was needed as we all know.

Who is the 3rd commitment?

a preferred walkon QB from Jeffersonville. Cameron Northern I believe.
Yeah. but he's not on scholarship as a walk-on, so there's still plenty of room. We're actually at delta plus one for scholarship commitments since Hazell got canned - lost 2, gained 3. And honestly, I'd rather have the Carmel DB and the midyear JUCO tackle than the two we lost (DB and RB).

Hey, I agree with you. In fact, I think we will have plenty of scholarships to offer - not an issue! I think we get Jallow and Jalen Jackson and Pittman (along with a whole bunch of others).

I hope Hudson comes to Purdue. Read an article on his home life. Kid was dealt a TOUGH hand and has really done well. Hope he has success anywhere he goes - hopefully it will be at Purdue. Do you know why Mitch West decommitted? Or is he coming to Purdue and running track only?

Back on my last post - hey, I was just answering the question that was asked. Of course a walk-on does not use a scholarship!

Hey man, I wasn't offended or anything. Sorry if I was a jerk. I kinda do that sometimes without trying.

I too hope we don't lose Hudson, he's legit IMHO. I also think we'll get Jallow, Jackson and Pittman. Whoever Brohm thinks will help, especially mid year. Pretty stoked about the OL, he's needed bad.

Don't know why West decommitted, hes just not on the list nor does his profile show an offer.

All good no worries.

I wonder how solid Britt Beery of Carmel is to IU. His dad was a really good player with the Boilers. I certainly understand a kid wanting to blaze his own trail. But if he really was interested in Purdue but Hazell was too toxic...maybe he reconsiders?

Especially since 2 of his teammates are coming to Purdue. Hazell probably didn't even talk to the kid?

I know that when you're talking about a regime change and a program culture change, it never hurts to get a local kid with good size and Ivy Leauge offers.

The DB from Carmel probably ends up playing safety...which is a huge area of need. He appears to have a body that can build some muscle and appears to have good speed coming down the field to the LOS in run support. Not sure he has the hip movement to play DB in the B1G, but as a safety I like his potential.

Potts is an interesting player In that he has a lot of good teams recruiting him, and his top choice is the one that already has 10 safeties on its roster. Admittedly Potts doesn't have much interest in Purdue. but the Purdue fan base has a lot of interest in Potts. Signing Potts away from ND, Mich and IU is the type of recruiting move, Purdue desperately needs. it would put Purdue recruiting back on the map and make the statement, we are as good as the big boys. We can compete. Purdue fans are tired of having to settle for second and third best. Purdue fans are tired of Purdue throwing in the towel when a team like Notre Dame wants the same player. Brohm would win over a lot of fans if he could pull this one off and somehow persuade Potts to come to Purdue. I don't expect him to be able to do it. but, I hope he can.

Just win.

it's a double edged sword. You need quality players to win. and winning attracts quality players.

Why is Potts not interested in Purdue? Haven't heard, but hope Brohm goes after him.

Good coaches will win above their talent level which will enable them to recruit at a higher level. You don't expect any coach to come into Purdue right now and start pulling top 20 classes.

I attended highschool with Potts for a year at Fishers, in the area where we live 80-85 % of kids are a Notre Dame or IU fan. RJ is not a Purdue fan and has his sights set on more successful programs. If Brohm could somehow pull him to Purdue, then I would be shocked, however crazier things have happened... it would show how talented Brohm is at recruiting.

ND is usually the best football team in Indiana but I wouldn't say that Fishers kids really like them. It's all IU and Purdue in this area.

I'd love to see Britt Beery go to Purdue (I had him in class 2 years ago - good kid). But he is a DE and the DC is staying at IU, AND he has a TE teammate going down there with him. I'd say he is a very loooooong shot.
