Whomever is the coach, what type of contract do you think he gets in length and $$? Hopefully it has incentives for winning and a manageable buyout if needed.
Manageable buyout. Ha. Our buyout to Hazell was industry standard. Most of these contracts are fully garunteed. You aren't going to get a coach with an incentive laden contract with no garuntees. That's not how the industry works.Whomever is the coach, what type of contract do you think he gets in length and $$? Hopefully it has incentives for winning and a manageable buyout if needed.
Yep. I hope we are somewhere between these two examples.Let's look at peers for market value.
Last year, Durkin got 5 yr/$12.5M with up to $3-$4M in bonuses, and Lovie Smith got 6 yr/$21M with up to $8M in bonuses. The Durkin contract is probably close to the starting point if its somebody like Brohm. If its Fleck we're probably looking at something like the Lovie contract.
No matter what happens half the people on this board bitching that we overpaid and the other half bitching that we went too cheap.
As we should be.Yep. I hope we are somewhere between these two examples.
We need to structure the buyout like LSU structured Miles. Spread over 6-7 years from firing. Gives us a low payout in any given year so we're not hampered and also increases the odds of offsetManageable buyout. Ha. Our buyout to Hazell was industry standard. If it's Fleck, we are looking at AT LEAST $21mil over 6.
Somebody like Brohm or Calhoun, let's call it 2.5mil a year with potentially a smaller buyout.
