It is gut wrenching to see how upset everyone is. I am sorry.
It's self-serving, but I still contend the two reasons for our March issues are 1) We rarely, and I mean rarely, have guards with verve. It's pretty amazing how few ballsy guards we've had in all the years I have watched us. I am NOT saying Smith is the answer by any stretch, but the dude does not give any quarter. WE HAVE GOT to find guys like that. That would be my main beef with Painter - his inability to understand that trait. 2) We desperately need a four man who is a versatile offensive player who can get his own shot. The Eifert's and Gillis' of the world give supreme effort, but you can't constantly get beat at that spot and have timid guard play. Both issues beat us again tonight. I have said it multiple times - I get that it's a guards game, but in the last 25 years, there have been way more college all-Americans at the 3 and 4 spots from NCAA FF teams than guards.
Incredibly, 3 times in the last 9 minutes we had the ball with a four point lead and all 3 times Ivey turned the ball.
The sun will come up tomorrow boys.
