I am a huge fan of Markell Jones. Too bad his team reminds me of when Alstott played.

Someone with better knowledge than me...even the Coletto years were bad, but I don't remember his teams being blown out and they stayed competitive in most games, right??
Yeah colletto was pretty decent at avoiding blowouts. His MO- "keep it close and then blow it in the end."

"Coletto-level" production would be a marked improvement for this team, which says a lot for us who witnessed those years in the 90's. Right now, there is just not enough talent nor innovation to be competitive with most major schools. I do like CDH and what he stands for, but it's going to take a lot more than hoping to get Purdue through this.

Usually played it close unless he played OSU (in '96 was up 14-0, got beat something like 48-14), occasionally was blown out by a good Iowa or Michigan team.

I was a student from 91-95. It was brutal. I just quit going to games and stayed at Breakfast Club.

I do think from an overall talent standpoint, the two eras are similar if you look at number of NFL players drafted each year. We obviously had Alstott but beyond that we typically only got 1-2 guys drafted per year back then, unless I'm completely mis-remembering.
