Was a thread about him started by NewPal in late Oct. Worth a revisit and discussion.

Money wouldn't be an issue, would probably need to be in the $8M range. Would need to build a staff, but assuming he's got a lot of connections to do that. Is he willing to grind it out in recruiting, NIL and portal?
He'd have an instant impact with recruits and fan base. Probably see a nice bump in NIL contributions to help him build a team.

Not completely against it, but seems like a retread at this point. Not sure how much motivation he has.
Would love to know if we're at least putting out the feelers to him. I would assume he sees that his name is at least being mentioned in the media.

I honestly don't see mullen at 8 mill. Maybe at 6 to 7 mill.

I like the idea he has some good success finding and developing qbs at miss st. But remembering one knock on him was his ability to win the first 6 weeks and then doing poorly the next 6.

I think he would have been a great hire after brohm. He won at miss state. The timing is the issue. He would need to build a staff, get back in the recruiting game, i dont know how much of the nil world he knows about, etc. If he was the guy they should have fired walters at the bye and got him on board then. We really need someone who can bring their staff and cherry pick players to get off to a quick start imo. Hes a very good coach imo just not now.

I think he'd be a good hire, want Silverfield, but probably wind up w/ someone like Chryst ( meh)

He’s an abhorrent recruiter. Truly awful. Chases stars and not fit. It’s taken Napier 3 years to flush the stink from the UF program.

He’s an upgrade from Walters but I’m not sure he’s a guy that is special enough to lead us to any marked success. He’s not the same coach he was 8-10 years ago

Agree on silverfield. Next tier would be chuck martin for me. Hes been succesful as a hc at two stops, turned miami around, and seens to have hit his stride as a coach the past two seasons

I know this. Chuck Martin from Miami of Ohio and Chris Creighton from Eastern Michigan are two SOLID choices. Both have been through adversity and both have built Solid programs. Both programs were in a disastrous situation and they were rebuilt in a solid patient manner. There is no easy fix unless some Alum decides to kick in Big Dollars!

Love Chuck Martin from Miami of Ohio. Been through a lot of adversity. Knows how to re build a program. Solid choice.

good summary, want Silverfield he's not in any champ game, could start right away

Chryst, Mullen and Helton were mentioned in a CBS article that I didn't get a chance to read, just saw the notification.
doesn't surprise me, as he was mentioned for us in the past and he is now unattached. He had a good record at wisky but he just guided a machine there at Pitt ( a similar program to us ) he was just ordinary and not well liked there.

Chryst would be a safe hire but would need to build a staff and all the other negatives around getting going now.
