Moore decommits from Texas

His trainer said he's considering Purdue, Michigan, Ohio state, Louisville, Florida State, and Alabama

I'm not overly enthused by his announcement. by stating he's going to announce after the Army all star game. to me, that's basically saying he wants to see where the dust settles after the early signing period and then hopefully he shines at the all star game and receives a better offer than he currently has. if not, he'll use Purdue as fall back plan. Will Brohm be willing to wait?

and looking over the landscape, teams like FSU, Nebraska, Florida and tenn all have a lot of scholarship space to offer him in the late signing period.

I guess , we'll know more tomorrow.

I think the early signing period can help and hurt Purdue in some cases. It helps because some guys aren't going to leave us at the alter and want to sign immediately that tend to be known talents...however, the upper level recruits may have a wait and see approach that doesn't really play in to Purdue's hands given the early signing period taking most of the known players off the board. Some mid-level programs waiting and hoping for a commit like Moore that doesn't come to fruition are going to be left with trying to fill the gaps with players who are development guys OR scouring the ranks of the G5 to find guys who aren't signed yet.

I like what Brohm is doing in that he appears ready to sign 20+ guys with a potential of signing a few guys he can afford to wait for (its nice to get another WR BUT not a deal breaker with Taylor and Anderson already on board). If Moore or Anderson don't come, Brohm has some scholarships he has banked to find a graduate transfer OR potentially a player from Ole Miss looking to transfer out to be immediately available.

actually, you also didn't read his tweet either.

he never said in his tweet when he'd announce his commitment. he just said he'd make a decision at the game !! Bullwhip said he would announce at the game, not Rondale.

I know the meaning of "we'll know more tomorrow". With that said, it will be January 6th announcement and signing LOI day which I believe is on 2/7/18 this coming year.
It bodes well for Purdue thus far, however, the longer the holdout the longer new coaches at new established programs can make contact with him plus Ohio State, Penn State & Alabama all have offers to him and that becomes a looming factor. I hope the Brohm connection with Trinity H.S. and New Albany, IN are enough to keep Rondale Moore leaning to Purdue.

It's just possible Moore and Brohm agreed to let him announce at the Army all star game. It would be great publicity for Purdue.

Certainly better news than the alternative (him signing with Texas tomorrow). The pessimist in me sees a 2+ week all-out assault from big boy competition.

There is 0% chance Brohm would prefer him to slip through the early signing period just to announce at the game. That would be nuts. Unless you are saying it is Moore's preference and Brohm is simply allowing it because he has no other choice.

I would agree. Reading the article about Stepp, Brohm didn't want him to wait. he wanted a commitment NOW ! and without that commitment, they parted ways.

I believe Brohm would prefer that Moore goes to that al l star game with the phrase attached, signed with Purdue. it will create jus t as much publicity. With al l the other 5* announcements made that day, I doubt Rondale's announcement will receive any publicity even if he announces for Alabama. it will be just a small blurb mixed in with all the rest. .

He said he would make an official decision...live on NBC. Not sure why you're making this so hard.

WHY ???

because NAT was playing his little game of semantics. and I can play the same game. my post wasn't about moor's announcement, it was directed toward NAT !

I speculate a lot. NAT hates me speculating because he's a matter of fact person. I'm not going to change and neither is NAT. We may agree on the final outcome, but we will never take the same path to get there.

that's just speculation on my part.

I agree Brohm likely would have preferred a commitment now. But if Rondale wants his moment on tv why not let him enjoy it. Only happens once in a lifetime.

My bad - I wasn't aware of the game you two had going.

I like the idea of a secret signing tomorrow and then announcement at the all-star game.

Maybe he is switching to Geico....you know you get "mooreeeeeeeeee".

You know what I mean Brotatochip or Brofessor......or maybe just Brohmance.

About ready to puke every time that commercial comes on, they drive that saying into the ground on every commercial.

Fingers crossed.....seems to be a great talent that fits Brohms system.

Seriously? It’s obvious he’ll announce his commitment at the Army All-American game. How is this confusing you?

Can't say that I am personally overwhelmed by the overwrought drama in today's game (not really focusing on Moore, whom I would certainly love to see as a Boiler).
I find it all pretty repulsive and ridiculous.
goes hand in hand w/ some of the stupid TD celebrations in the pro game.

Just to be clear, based on his tweet, you do or dont think he will make his commitment known on national TV?

I believe several things.

one thing I believe is with so many other uncommitted 5* athletes participating in that game, and also announcing their "official" decisions, that the viewing public will only see about 1/4th of the announcements made. and the remainder will be on a ticker tape at the bottom of the screen. he might make his announcement, but it might not be included in the national TV coverage of the game. You definitely won't see some 10 minute surprise hat trick.

I'm not certain based on his tweet when he will make his actual decision. Will he make his decision before the game or after it? And when will he announce it I don't know.

second thing I believe. I believe the contents of the article published about Brohm wanting Stepp to commit now, and they parted ways partly because of that pressure Brohm placed on Stepp to make a decision. I have to believe Brohm applied similar pressure on Moore.

I believe Alexander is Plan B.

I don't believe an announcement at the game will produce a lot more publicity than a separate announcement Wednesday of Thursday. I recall several 5* athletes deiced to hold their press conference / announcement last year on a separate day than the first signing day to generate more publicity..

I believe I have inside information on a Carterville 4* TE who will also be attending that same all star game, and many people including myself advised him to commit early rather than wait because he's already had two major injuries in the past two years. but, he also wants to wait.

I believe much like the Senior bowl, there will be many college coaches and scouts meeting with the athletes at the all star game with offers in hand and trying to flip unsigned players. a player may go to the all star game with one college in mind, and then he meets the new coach at Tenn, FSU or Texas A&M and comes away with a new offer that week. Much like today, when Rondale's trainer mentioned he's now thinking about FSU as a finalist.

I believe before a commitment is made, there has to be contact and agreement between the player, his parents and the respective coaches and also university. We don't want that issue created last year where the player announced his commitment to Mich or MSU, and the parent refused to sign it. or the 5* DE who committed to Alabama, and then Alabama said they had no scholarships left to give him. or the commitment made last year by DB Williams to Purdue that the university axed.

I believe we'll know Moore tomorrow if this is all just a smoke screen or not.

Those are my beliefs. I doubt you or anyone wants to know my fears or real opinions on this matter. I hope they are wrong.

to answer your question, I DO NOT believe his commitment will be part of the national TV broadcast of the game. And I highly doubt Brohm told him to wait for that game to make his announcement because it would bring additional publicity to the Purdue football program.

Williams was a different issue and really isnt relevant in this instance.

I believe a kid doesnt say he is making his decision on NBC live unless they plan to share said decision.

Seriously? It’s obvious he’ll announce his commitment at the Army All-American game. How is this confusing you?

I was asked a question and I provided an answer. it's not confusing to me. it's just my reply is confusing to others. it's a matter of how literal you take a person's tweet . We currently live in a world where a president tweets one thing, the media argues about it until his staff says, well, that might be what he said, but not what he meant. Do you take everything written in the Bible as literal? or are there parts that may have had hidden meaning or may be figurative in nature?

the tweet says he will make a decision. it does not say he will make an announcement. And to take his tweet literally, no announcement will be forthcoming . many posters have been all over my case for making speculations. but all you posters throwing stones at me are all speculating yourselves. you're doing the same as me, only your speculations are different than mine.

he may make his decision public, but I don't believe his announcement will be on national TV as there are just too many higher profile athletes who will be participating in the game and will also want to make their own announcements. and to back up m y point, I'll provide the following link. it's the top 50 players in the 2018 class. of that top 50, 33, are wearing their all star game jerseys. 22 are currently uncommitted. have to believe national TV programing will carry the announcements of these players before Rondale Moore's announcement. Sure, it will be great if he announces for Purdue on that night. But I would expect to see that announcement on this site long before I see it on national TV

https://247sports.com/Season/2018-Football/CompositeRecruitRankings?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool

and I'll ask, if all you're interested in is seeing the announcement/decision, will you watch that entire game, or will you come to this site? I'm going to speculate, you'll come here first.

Williams was a different issue and really isnt relevant in this instance.

I believe a kid doesnt say he is making his decision on NBC live unless they plan to share said decision.

I believe Williams is very relevant because there were a lot of publishers of Purdue sports webs sites that said he was a super, secret commitment , that they couldn't add to their commitment list, but trust me , they have an agreement in place and will be coming. those type of posts by people with supposed inside info bring the hopes up of the casual fan like myself. They should never have been shared too begin with.

and the kid from Michigan did make his announcement as did the kid who thought he was going to Alabama.

I believe an 18 year old athlete believes a lot of promises. he believes he'll have an opportunity to make an announcement on the air at the game or during half time. As a casual fan, I've watched a lot of games, and professional sports activity announcements. and the y always tend to break for a commercial when the Bucks and Packers and Brewers make their draft choice announcements. and then you scramble to the internet to find out what the announcement was.

I believe Rondale plans to make his announcement at the all star game. I don't believe his announcement will be aired on national TV.

it's a totally different subject if you want to discuss the school's name he will announce. Would you be upset if he announced tomorrow?

I'm not sure it's about whether us Knuckleheads watch the game, it's about future recruits taking notice of Purdue.

Weird that his trainer was the one who said it. You would think it would come from Rondale himself. Hopefully their saying those teams so it's not as obvious he's coming to Purdue

Wonder if disclosing the private thoughts of 4* Luke Ford on our board will be appreciated by he or his parents? Also not sure why you feel your opinion on his recruitment or commitment deserves or warrants your direct involvement, unless of course you are a close personel friend or advisor?

Nearly all of your posts today seem to suggest or exhibit a psychosis related to feelings of self importance that could result in delusions of greatness-just say'n..............

Any player making decision public at the game will be broadcasted live. They typically go to sidelines while said player is not in the game, then have them announce their intentions. It takes seconds, then they interview them about why. Probably 30 kids will make their decisions public and all will be aired.
