Minnesota sighting! And recruiting guideline question

One of my students was pulled out of class to meet with a Minnesota recruiter today.

In this type of situation, I often wonder what guidelines I should follow about talking to potential D1 athletes that are in my classroom about my alma mater.

Does anyone know about any guidelines? Would I be considered a booster?

/ one of the interesting things of teaching in a high school.
// I won't disclose who the student was, as I don't think that would be appropriate

As long as it is just small talk, no problem. Your not promising that student anything. If your making connections and speaking on behalf of recruiting coaches or offering the student athlete something in exchange for their signature on the Letter of Intent, then it crosses the line. That is where club sports getting into muddier waters than the Mississippi River parting thru University of Minnesota. I'd call UM them Golden Goophers myself, but that is just me. LOL :p

If your in Math or Business, a lecture on Own vs. Lease with Purdue being the Own and UM being the Lease might be interesting. Fit the #'s to make your story. I.E. 2016 Football vs. 2017 Football. This would definitely fit that model. PJ Fleck might be rowing down the Mississippi if he doesn't turn it around in years 2 or 3. His rowing the boat did wonders at Western Michigan and the Mid-American conference, but that dinghy might be too far off shore in the Big Ten and just like like in Jaws, "You're going to need a bigger boat"
I tell ya, I do some of my best work on Fridays! LOL

If he commits to Minny have him expelled. That would put an end to it.

Wow. Just found out from another student that the FB player in my class has 6 B1G offers and one from ND and is just a sophomore. He does have a Purdue offer, so hopefully the Purdue flag in my classroom slowly seeps into his subconscious.

Does this student ever talk to you? I guess you could small talk to him and describe how you enjoy the campus. Hopefully he will come to you to chat.

Just make all of your bonus questions Purdue and CJB related. Make sure to show the Purdue hype video in class for a motivation Tuesday or something. Give bonus points for learning the Purdue fight song.

Fill in the blank for bonus points... ______ sucks.

Wear Purdue gear to class for bonus points!

Picture of Carsen dunking on IU for the front board too.

Avoid violations like North Carolina did and just make the points available to everybody! Be like Oprah. You get an A. You get an A. You get an A!
