Ok, ladies and gentlemen, the post-season is about to commence for the Boilers as they get one of the surging teams in the conference in the Michigan Wolverines in the first BTT quarterfinal game today from the Verizon Center in the nation's capital. Just about two weeks ago, Michigan handed Purdue its largest loss of the year in Ann Arbor forcing the Purdue bigs to defend outside the paint for most of the first half. Although the Boilers made a late run, it wasn't enough to overcome a rather sizable first half deficit.
Here's what CMP commented on about Spike Albrecht, former Michigan player:
"I thought Spike played well late in the regular season and deserved to get more minutes. He has subbed in and played well. It is hard for the role that he is in. It is hard to be really productive in 10 to 12 minutes. He definitely has given us a boost. We look forward to having him play well in Washington, D.C."
And concerning VE, DM, IH, and PJT:
"Those guys have been through it. This is their their third Big Ten tournament and their third NCAA tournament. They have seen a lot of different things. I think that kind of shows up in that they play with that mature pulse and confidence. All four of those players have had a lot of tournament experience now."
On preparing for this game:
"We knew we were going to play Illinois or Michigan, so for us, Tuesday and Wednesday were days to get in a lot of shooting and just kind of worrying about ourselves. We didn't practice Thursday in the D.C. area until after the game between Illinois and Michigan. This time of the year, everybody knows everything about their opponents. We want to make sure everybody is on the same page in this game, and you want to shoot well. You have to work toward executing and getting good shots."
Caleb Swanigan had some difficulty guarding Wagner in the last game...I expect Purdue will make some further adjustments to what worked in the second half, but I expect CS to have a really good game. If the Boilers can continue to execute better on offense and keep Michigan off-balance a little more, it could be a good day for the Boilers. We'll see shortly.
Boiler up my friends.
