I know we're all getting sore arms from patting each other on the back about Purdue's 2-1 start and we very well could come crashing back down to earth if we get handled by UM, but.... a top 10 traditional power UM team coming in for homecoming with a 4 PM kick and a sense of confidence, pride and execution being displayed by the Purdue team. Fans are jacked, sell out crowd, etc. etc.

Biggest game in RA since...(I actually can't think of a really big game in the last 5-7 years). I still think of UW and 'the fumble' as one of the biggest home games in recent memory. I remember being in the stands and seeing that play happen in slow motion and thinking "you've got to be kidding me....."

Oregon game at RA in Tiller's final year was pretty hype. Any of the ND night games. 2009 game where we upset OSU in Hope's first year.

ND night game in Hazell's first season.
That's the one I thought of at first. It was the biggest game of the DH2 era. But this one is bigger. Had the 2013 team prevailed, I don't think the 2013 season would have played out much different. Had already gotten shellacked by Cincinnati and then got waxed by Wisconsin the following week.

I'll go with Michigan the prior year, 2012. Went into the game 3-1, looking to finally get a breakout year. Only 3 point underdogs, end up getting blow out of our stadium. Another losing streak and 6 win season, and that's all she wrote for Coach Hope.

2007 night game vs #4OSU when we were both 5-0 and also ranked generated a lot of buzz in the week leading up to it . Unfortunately we laid an egg on national tv.

Danny Hope likely figured the bucket game was huge for him personally in 2012 to keep his job. Got canned despite getting a "W", though.

1981 season opener against Stanford and John Elway was hyped a lot in weeks leading up to it as both teams were ranked. Scott Campbell outplayed Elway and we won by a TD

In retrospect, that game doesn't mean as much but I felt going into it that it was an opportunity for Hazell to impress a sold-out stadium and national TV audience in a relatively high-profile night game. I do remember the vibe was very positive around here after that game. A bunch of wait-until-Hazell-cleans-up-Hope's-mess people that night.

I was at that game and came away thinking we were on the right track. Then again, ND is ALWAYS overhyped.

Oh that fumble Wisconsin game single handedly killed Purdue momentum. The single most devastating play in Purdue sports history. Hard to believe it happened. Hard to believe that was humanly possible. The one thing I really like about JB....you make a play like that you sit the bench for a good time and ride mad pine. Short fuse for that kind of nonsense. As should be. I don't think that Wisconsin fumble is something Purdue fans then will ever forget. That play should be shown to every Purdue team playing Wisconsin forever as reminder motivational material.
