Much in the same mold as Wagner (MI) a big for "D" That can Step out and shoot and score.

Hopeful sure. We will see though....these guys haven't played a minute of college basketball and already comparing them to a likely pro in Wagner. Sure hope they're that good.......but the opposite is a complete wash out and transfer. Truth prob. lies somewhere in the middle.

I don't get what people see in Wagner. He's a big body, but he's not a consistent enough shooter to thrive IMO. Good rebounder but isn't great with the offensive post game. Athletic yes, but not overly so. He'll go from the most athletic 7 footer in his league to the least when he jumps.

He'll get drafted because of size and hype. Has lots of potential but has a lot of work to do to be a contributor in the NBA.

Haarms doesn't have the body that Wagner has. He's taller, but much skinnier. Unless he adds significant strength and weight, he's not going to be effective inside.

Maybe you use Haarms like we would Biggie when he played with Haas, in a high-low post arrangement. He could be deadly passing to Haas over the top, or turning and hitting longer shots from the top of the key. I don't see him being a post banger, but that might not matter too much.

Haarms will be More of a pick and roll or pop4 than a post banger. He'll have to guard other 5s but from what I've seen from his tape that shouldn't be an issue, especially with a smaller flex 4/5 type guy.

Haarms has gained 26 pounds since arriving in January.

Source?

He was reported as 224 at the end of last year, so the 26 pound increase would put him at about 250 pounds, which is actually about ideal for a stretch 4 at 7'2

I think they'll be fine offensively, it's the defensive side of the game that has me worried.

Is he agile enough to be at least a decent rim protector (and note I said "decent" I'm not expecting him to be a JJ or Hammons at the rim, just an upgrade over Haas and Biggie)? If you're going to play a 5 like Haas you need a 4 (Ewing maybe as well?) who can protect the rim or you get opponents scoring at the basket in great regularity.

Obviously he has the height/length (so does Haas but he's simply not agile enough to consistently recover quickly on defense to alter shots at the rim) but can he be the presence around the rim that this years team lacked?

He's certainly lighter than Haas so you think that might bode well in his favor as far as quickness is involved but who knows.
