Malcolm Robinson - welcome to the Boilermakers!

Another solid pickup. Not sure how he's doing it, but DH is putting together what could probably easily become his best recruiting class if he keeps this up.

Maybe the 2017 recruits understand the probability that Purdue will have a better coach than DH2 by the time they are on campus.

Selling playing time.
He could have sold playing time for the last 3 years, but it did not seem to work. Could it be that he started reaching out to this class when they were younger, instead of waiting until they were juniors and seniors?

Welcome aboard Mr. Robinson!

Maybe, but the last 3 recruiting classes have started off well in te summer and then crumbled in the fall. This summer isnt all that different

And 2016 was looking decent until the decommits started. I expect the same for 2017. I suspect part of the pitch is to go ahead and make a verbal commitment even if unsure, you can always change your mind later. No program of any significance is going to shy away from recruiting you if you blow up this fall. We are the safety school for a lot of these guys.

I'm being positive...today.

Dr. write you a new prescription?

Yes, How could you tell? But I prefer the 32 oz, Big Gulp container that comes with unlimited refills.

He just visited us for his official visit on the 13th of this month. I noticed Fleck and Co paid him a home visit yesterday.

One thing I noticed was 24/7 listed him as a guard, and rivals listed him as a DT. I'm not sure which position Brohm preferred him to play, or which position he preferred.

His last tweet was I got my football, and I got my girl. he hasn't tweeted the standard template tweet yet about thanking al l the coaches that recruited me, but I'm going to reopen my recruiting yet.

I did notice he congratulated a guy for receiving an offer to go to minn. and since fleck just visited him, my guess is Fleck just stole him from us.

of all our recruits, he seemed to be the one getting the least amount of publicity. I just thought he was happy coming to Purdue.

in a related note, it was announced today he received an offer from Minnesota yesterday.

and former commit Mason is now committed to Rutgers.

He went to the only team that might be worse.

It seems that this is more about Brohm parting ways than Fleck "stealing" this guy from Purdue. Not sure the staff was totally sold on this guy (for a few reasons). There are questions about qualifying, etc.

I will agree that this was the one recruit Brohm never said anything about. perry is the next least talked about recruit. And he said he was sold on Purdue. and then he visited last week , and then he returned home and decommited.

Coaches aren't allowed to talk about any of their recruits at this point in the process.

Those are the rules. however, rules can be bended. I constantly see pictures and posts about coaches visiting recruits or their schools and making official home visits. I even saw the food Baylor's Ruhl gave to Harris on a home visit. Sure, they can't talk about any recruits, but the media and recruit can. and the two recruits with the least amount of press are Robinson and Perry. Even Mitch West received some press.

I found it humerous that Street tweeted he is open to any offers after decommitting from Louisville as if the other coaches didn't already know. His tweet appeared as if he was on EBAY trying to sell himself to the highest bidder, but his reserve had not been met yet.

I'll say it another way. Who took the picture of the food Ruhl served Harris on his official home visit? It wasn't Harris. he was eating. Who posted it on the internet. What Purdue coach recently tweeted he liked flying in the Purdue private plane ? if you follow recruiting close enough, you know who he was going to see. Did Brohm say anything about QB Sipe? No, but Sipe talked. and Mackey has talked a lot.

on the other hand, all news about Malcom was rather silent until he decommitted. and now we hear more about him in 2 days than we did in the past 2 years.

brian tries his best to keep information posted on the knucklehead forum confidential, but the word still gets out. People quote his posts on hammer and rails every day.

that's my definition of "bending " the rules. if you look hard enough, you can find it.

I was commenting on your bending of spelling rules.

I blame the GBI server. I find myself typing and then receiving that blue circle and my words are not entered or only half entered or oined with other words. my keyboard is itot in sync or my web browser is not compatible with this site. I am lokin at my computer keyboard as I type this. and this post is filled with errors, as if this site does not like inputs from computers.

Malcolm Robinson committed to Fleck and Minnesota. That stings. He was one of our most important recruits, and we lost him to a coach who had been there less time than CJB. Meanwhile we signed a pair of two star players at the most saturated recruiting positions. I will be patient, but this makes me very unhappy.

Me too! very unhappy . You can't give excuses when you lose a quality player to a coach who had made no prior contact with the recruit until two weeks ago. This last week may have been busy, but it was very unproductive. One of the jobs in taking over a program is in keeping the good recruits. It hurts to see Fleck and The new Cincy coach out recruit Purdue. And if they can do it with just one moth on the job, just think how much better they will recruit next year. We constantly talk about Brohm being better than Hazell. But Hazell isn't coaching our opposition. To beat minn in the future, we also need to out recruit them. They say winning solves everything. But going 4-8 next year isn't going to lure elite players to Purdue. What concerns me most is not in losing a recruiting battle with Michigan or LSU for a player. What concerns me is losing a recruiting battle to Illinois, IU, Cincy, and Minn. Those are battles, no matter who our coach is, we should win.

How are we supposed to win those battles after our 4-year stretch? That won't get fixed overnight.

If you can't fix it overnight, it's not going to be fixed anytime soon. If you can't put a winning product on the field immediately, it's not going to win over the fans or future recruits. To win today at the college level, it's no longer about development and play calling. It's about recruiting. Talent beats development. And winning is your greatest recruitment tool. I should add winning is your greatest "legal" recruiting tool. Winning is even a greater tool than offering immediate playing time.

Malcolm was a quality recruit who was willing to accept our losing ways and still commit. And in one week's time, He heard a sales pitch that changed his mind to commit to a school he had never even considered before. Brohm needs to make those type of sales pitches. He has displayed glimpses of that capability. Brohm may be new to Purdue, but he is not a rookie head coach. Malcolm bought into what Fleck was selling.

How many commits have we lost since Parker was told to hit the road? Seems like up to that point the decommits were mostly mutual breakups. Maybe the timing is coincidental, but even CJB must have seen some recruiting value in Parker, taking him along on recruiting trips.

Anyone who expects a winning product next year is in for a big let down.
