Someone asked me recently about Luke. I have watched only 2 HS games mainly due to early commits who aren't really committed and because you have to pay for his home games online. Here is what I know Mt. Vernon is ranked 2nd in class 4A they are 8-1 having got completely blown out at home by #1 Fishers. Luke leads his team in every category except blocked shots and FG% he only shoots 56% LOL, 18.7 points per, 6.7 rebounds, steals 1.9, free throws 88%, 3pt percentage 50% which is even more impressive considering he is always double teamed, assist 35 total in nine games, rebounds 60 considering he is a 6'1 combo guard impressive. These are Braden Smith number in HS. I said I only watched 2 HS games, but I have seen countless Indiana Elite games. I can 100% tell you Painter mentioned Braden more than once in recruiting him. For me I cannot help but compare him to Mr. Smith. He isn't the passer, but he pretty much checks all the other Smith boxes for me. Much like Smith he is a smart player who will exploit any and all weakness you may have. Unlike Smith Luke looks to score first and pass second. This maybe because he shoots 56% and his teammates know it. I view him as a second ball handler not a PG only because he is so offensive minded. And because I really like Antione West JR as the future PG. His pressure on the ball and attacking the basket are " Slightly" better. West looks to pass much, much more often than any recruit I can recall. I don't know how, but Whitmer has a 6-3 record. I will watch them again tonight if I can stomach watching that #3 mess up over and over. IMO they are not a good team. Mt Vernon on the other hand isn't as good as their loft ranking; they have Luke and not much else. I would sum up Luke by saying he is a hybrid Smith/Loyer he shoots like Fletch and manages the game like Smith. We got a good one here. And before you beat me up for ever daring to compare anyone to a generational player like Smith, I will just say you're right.

Yeah but can he dunk and does he have big time offers ???

Wasn't Mt Vernon getting absolutely dragged in the media before the season for not allowing a kid to transfer to Cathedral? They ended up allowing it believe, but curious how that affected their team.

A person on another forum was asking about Benton’s future after redshirting. My reply was Painter will always recruit elite guards every year. This is another example of the type of player coming to Purdue!

I have been sitting on this for a few days. West complains and complains and then he complains even more. Well for the 2nd time that I have seen he got tee'd up for it. And in this sequence, it gets even worse he was up 36 in the 3rd QRT. He had just got a steal, and he complained that he was fouled vehemently why? Yes, he was fouled then he drives to the basket, and he loses control of the ball no foul next comes the technical up 36. All of this after he had scored 5 straight and looked great doing so. I hate negatives but the kid has a major flaw, and he does it every game every call. Clearly a lack of coaching or a lack of being coachable. Make no mistake about it I am high on him other that he passes to much for me. And yes, the irony of me complaining about complaining isn't lost on me.

I trust that CMP will not only address this, but that he’s probably already doing so.

Feel like Paint can get that out of him…or will get him out of here. Not worried.

Will be quickly put to bed when he tries that shit in Purdue practice and everyone tells him to sack up.

Who is Benton

Who is Benton
You know who he is, so why bother posting just to correct me! He’s never going to play. He’s being recruited over in both 2025 and 2026 so why even bother knowing what his real name is!

Do you think he’s going to beat out Harris, Myles or cox for playing time in the future? Or our two incoming guards?

So what does it matter if I spell his name right or wrong? Duane?

This is a forum . I spelled his name wrong! Glad to know we have a grammer queen among us
This you?

They are to me! The first 3 letters were the same! You can’t spell my name! It’s not Wole! There are other letters!

I didn’t say he was going to be good or bad.

What I did say is he is a 2006 guard. And in order for him to get any playing time, one of our current 4 guards is going to have to move over to the 3 to make space for him.

And we’re recruiting several other highly regarded 2025 guards. I didn't even mention the other 2025 andc2026 guards we’re recruiting !

As for mentor or benton. Tell your friends to start spelling my name right and I may start spelling other names right. You act as if this was the first time I misspelled a name .

Get a spell checker and I may use it! Become a starter and I may remember how to spell your name.

Don’t ask me how to spell players from other teams because I really don’t care

I believe it’s time Purdue graduates showed and displayed their intelligence and learned how to spell their state’s name correctly.

A tailor made a mistake. It became part of a meme. And Purdue football posters can think of nothing better to do than share that misspelled word every chance you get. I thought Purdue graduated intelligent people. Some of you sure do not show it.

This is a world wide Internet forum, not a locker room for dumb jocks! Some of you need to realize that. When someone from a different college sees your stupid posts, And you don’t even know how to spell your own state’s name, who do think that reflects poorly on? Duhhhhhhh. It’s not IU. It’s you!

Give it some time and people outside of Indiana will believe Purdue is famous for its chicken and that pharmaceutical company that’s always ripping people off.

Can you learn to spell? This is a national forum and your words are coming across like A 22 year old drunk frat rat! It’s time you acted your age!

A tailor got the name wrong once. He might have even been a Purdue grad. That was 3-5 years ago. You don’t need to keep driving it into the ground.

And you don’t know how to spell. There’s no moderator on this board! Tell me how you really feel. I doubt you know how to spell Indiana either!

As long as you're not trashing Benter, I am ok with it.

Good question. As a follow up how does he compare to potential recruits?
It wouldn't be fair to compare Luke he is just too far away from a physical standpoint. As for Antione he is a PG who hangs his hat on being a distributer and help defender no way near the offensive threat as Jack. IMO if you have seen CJ you have a taller less offensive West. West will redshirt not because of a lack of talent but because there will be zero minutes at the #1 or #2 if Smith comes back. The thing about West he rarely misses a shot. Not that he is a great scorer he maybe, but I haven't seen it consistently he just doesn't take bad shots. Which is why I say he passes too much. They lost again last night to the #1 team in OHIO I had planned on watching it but haven't. Jack was recruited to be another Sasha a big guard who can pass defend and knock down a 3. IMO Jack was recruited for a position and West was recruited for being another athletic guard to be molded into what Painter wants same as CJ. I would say Jack can help this team next year and the year after. If West was looking for immediate playing time he chose the wrong school. The thing about Painter he runs a program and recruits to fill a role if you fit the role, you play if not you are coached up until you do. I will say this I like all three and trust Painter. It has taken me awhile to figure what Painter sees that others don't he looks at a player that fits his program all three will do that.
