Love this team............

Switching and isolation I mentioned hurt as people tried to help PJ down low and left the 3 open. Gutsy call by refs...accurate, correct, but gutsy! Great final 6.2 seconds by Matt. Isolation for Carsen and then the same play Matt ran last year for Haas...and how about the Big guy hitting the first one!!! Nojel made another step forward. GRady gave some really good minutes. Was worried about OT and the minutes the seniors had played. Purdue led until 4:28 and tied a minute and a half later. I think all teh switching hurt a bit and was hoping the last few minutes Matt would change that. The seniors looked to Carsen to create something.

Now give Michigan credit...played very hard and shot very well. They had several players have good games and not sure Vince had his best game or Ryan...but it was a win and a huge win! Heart....

Nobel Eastern played a great 3 or 4 minutes about 2/3 of the day through the 22nd half when Michigan was in one of its many runs.
Yes, I was looking at the fouls and wondering if he would be in a position late in the game where he went to the line and knowing how confidence plays such a huge role...and on the other teams court. Michigan got a lot from many and Purdue never got as much scoring from the regular players...give Michigan credit for playing better D than I figured they would!

Let me add....in the final seconds the play will be made by Dakota "IF" he is able to get the ball. Time and time again Matt puts it in his hands to make the decision where it goes and having the ability to do it. I would think opposing teams would really play a lot of heavy denial are Dakota in the final seconds to make someone else handle it

He got some big minutes on a big stage, and did very well. Tip in and his rebounding were big. Good defense too. We all knew we liked this kid..........it is only going to get better
The best thing is "he" knows he made really important contributions scoring and this game will help him

If they don't win another game they are already special. Dakota with stiches, Haarms with stitches...heart and GREAT kids. Course they may do something special on the court as well... ;)
Dakota's head hitting the floor reminded me of Larry Bird against the Pacers, I believe, in the playoffs, when he bounced his head on the floor. Bird left the game, came back and led the Celtics to the win.

Michigan not only shot well but shot well from three off the bounce. Those are tough shots and they hit a bunch of them. I don't think Michigan can play any better than they did.
And that is what impressed me about Purdue tonight. That was a talented teams absolute best shot, with nothing to lose on their home court and the Boilers took every punch and made it happen. Damn good!

...and there he was throbbing head, tape over his eye and a bit of dried blood on his chin, but focused enough to set his man recieve the ball and get it to Haas down low. COMPETITOR!

YES, I agree Purdue can play better, but I doubt Michigan can. My next concern is a bit more offense from Haarms...need him going on O as well

Was he not pushed? I bitched about it, but maybe I was wrong.

I don't know...going to bed...BUT I taped it to see again and see who wins. So far Purdue won 100% tonight not 60% and if they win tomorrow it will be 200% and if they win ... ;) ...and yes something over 100% doesn't bother me ;)

Nojel carried us with two big offensive rebounds and put backs, Carson shut the door, fun game to watch, so happy the good guys pulled it out....Haas on line should be impediment, a blessing that it’s not!!! BTFU.

Is there any concern about possible concussion - sorry if this has been covered - I didn’t hear postgame

starting to feel like the same aura as the baby boiler team... cconfident play, everything clicking well. and when something is not, another guy steps up.

eastern with his big boards/points, and eifert with some good minutes and boards.

such a great team.
going to miss this senior class ALOT

only concern....
gonna need some kramer-esque face masks. looks like our guys have gone 10 rounds out there ha

Also, I'm officially over Dakich. He didn't event want to look at the replay - just made the decision himself. Then said he didn't like the Haas call, but they'll call it most of the time. I don't like ticky tack fouls, but that was a pretty obvious foul when you put your arm wrapped around someone's waist. Yeah, it sucks that is how the game ended - but an obvious foul is an obvious foul no matter how much time is left.

We actually made more threes and at a better %. Michigan did shoot much better from 3 than their avg. But, we did too. We got out rebounded.

keep marching boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, this wasn't our best game and certainly not the prettiest last couple minutes, but what a team win.

From Vince's 5 assists and clutch 3, to the team's 8 turnovers (also kudos to Vince for only having 1), to Haas' free throw, to Carsen's clutch 3, to Dakota's triples and nice brush off the Michigan defender ha, to PJ's 3s when we needed them, to Eifert's 4 rebounds - 2 offensive....the list goes on and on.

Looking forward, the rebounding wasn't great and leaves a bit of concern out there (especially heading to Minnesota which is a good rebounding team - even though they're missing one of their rebounders). But we cut the turnovers down which helped mitigate that difference.

Michigan's a tough team and they are efficient at what they do. I'm glad we'll play them again because it's good experience for this team.

I agree with you. He didn't like the reversal call. How can he say that seeing the same replay we all saw? Replays are a part of the modern game, like it or not, and that ball was clearly off Michigan. What an ass.

I agree...............except, those last couple of minutes were the prettiest of the game :)

I too will really miss watching this group of Seniors. Watching them for the 4 years they have been here has been such a joy. I love the way they play together as a team. They have given so much blood, sweat, and energy to Purdue. This may have been my favorite class, although I did absolutely love the Baby Boilers. What sets this class apart is that 4 guys all stuck around & gave us 4 awesome years of basketball. Love watching them play.

The switching every screen 1-5 put in a lot of tough defensive situations but for the most part he did well. He was off on offense all night. Haas was off too in the second half. Might be worth a second look to see what they did on D.

Agree on the statistical comparison of 3’s. Both teams shot well.
What i was noting is that we, as usual, got our threes off of great passes right in the pocket for step-ins from kick outs and curl cuts.
Michigan conversely hit a bunch of dribble move, step back threes and low shot clock situation shots. That is usually not good but to their credit they hit them.

kinda wondered about that because he hit it hard. Splitting the eyebrow is easy and always looks worse than it is. He is a warrior and if he could go he will.

...and to NOT call it when the whole intent of the last possession was to go to Haas would have automatically prevented Purdue from winning at that time. Gutsy, but correct calls. Ya know Matt said at half that Purdue had to play stronger with the ball and at the rim since they were not calling things. How many were missed against Michigan? Michigan bombed away from the perimeter and so we know they were not fouled there or on their drives since those were pretty much free.

Michigan prevented Purdue from switching back with them spreading the floor. Haarms only shot one shot I can recall ...a last second 3 ball. Purdue played a good game and competed hard, but Michigan played VERY well with a bunch of players hitting crucial shots as you mentioned. One thing Michigan did was play the perimeter really tight and that made it harder to get Haas the ball down low. I kept wanting more driving by Purdue, but other than Nojel and Carsen I'm not sure how effective they might have been. Vince had a good athlete on him and had some difficulty driving the ball

Dakich mad an azz out of himself at the end of the game. I was surprised that Painter commented on the officiating, but he did mention Hass was fouled the entire game. I also think it is hilarious that ESPN replay helped us win the game. My girlfriend commented that with the cuts and blackeyes it looked like a Flyers game minus the missing teeth. Good times, this team has some heart.
